Can we all just stop saying integrated GPUs suck?
EDIT: Of course this thread has tons of downvotes. You close-minded people... Suck.
EDIT 2: I'm done with r/buildapc nothing helpful comes from it for any actual important questions and discussions. I'm gone.
First things first, I'm a rare poster in here, I tend to get frustrated with people easily about this topic.
I apologise if I've vented on you before, it's not cool, so it wont happen again (even if you are wrong.)
Here's the real reason of this post: last year I got the early 2016 Razer Blade Stealth. ( i7 6500u, Intel HD 520 Graphics 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD and 2560x1440p display.)
I'm a student in highschool and college, so I need to have a small laptop with good battery life and durability. When I'm home, I have my desktop to play with, but when I'm out, which I am a lot, I occasionally want to play some games. The games I play vary greatly: battlefield 4, battlefront, dirt 3, OSU!, R6 siege, KoTOR, etc. Anyway, people frequently bash on integrated graphics, so much so, they forget to even see if they've improved recently. The previous generation iGPUs were indeed terrible, they just weren't a focus or efficient enough.
Skylake and onward is actually quite competent, I have both the HD 520 (Blade stealth) and HD 530 (6600K desktop.) Both play games enough for me to be competitive and successful.
Here are some things you all may not know about iGPUs:
Performance is the same on or off battery.
Long battery life, 2+ hours on my stealth.
It uses the RAM as VRAM, meaning plenty of it, up to 64GB.
Very cool and quiet.
There are more perks, but these are the main ones.
Here is some performance, if you request more, I'll happily bench any of my games on any client I o-" SHUT THE F**K UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP
