luna and discord were actually a threat meanwhile starlight was just a simple communist

Starlight used time travel to destroy the mane six.
While this amounted to nothing, since Twilight kept time looping until the alternate timelines were fixed, this almost resulted in a destruction of equestria. No Elements of Harmony? No way to stop Tirek, Chrysalis etcetera.

i think she got promoted cause she lives with twilight in the same place and since same place so twilight must have seen changes i guess-

Starlight still got off easy.
Look at poor Cozy Glow. She tried to destroy equestria and got jailed and then frozen in stone.

starlights, i dont remember any backstory of cozy glow or maybe i have just missed it while speeding running though the whole series

Starlight was troubled, but magically gifted, pony that set out to end the equestrian practice of using cutie marks to determine one's destiny. Her best friend/ boyfriend Sunburst, left her for magic school and she begain her quest for revenge againt society. She is basically the pony version of Buddy from the incredibles.

well, 1,000 years ago celestia didn't know what to do with luna, and didn't know how to help her. so she sent her to the moon

same with discord. but.....celestia, and luna most likely came from a neighbouring country, who feared that discord might spread to different countries, so they were tasked to stop him

both of these scenarios, they didn't know any other way to stop/help nightmare moon/luna, or discord

since twilight is the princess of magic/friendship, it's easier for her to help redeem villains, as long she she thinks they can be redeemed

with starlight, she never wanted to destroy equestria, she just wanted to stop twilight and her friends from ever getting their cutie marks

and once twilight has shown what happens if none of them gets their cutie marks. she does feel remorse, and guilty about it

if she didn't feel remorse, or guilt about it, then i do believe twilight would've stopped her another way
