I just don't get sad as easily in fictional things

let me list every sad, emotional, and tragic event in the game in order of when they happen
The kidnapping of Bowser's entire army, Bowser, and Peach
The slavery stuff in Chapter 2
Tippi's surge of trust in you
Luigi being caught by Count Bleck's army and turned into a villain
Prince Squirps talking about the good deeds of his presumably dead mother
The Floro Sapiens going crazy because of the polluted water
The destruction of an entire dimension, Sammer's Kingdom
Luigi's death
Mario, Bowser, and Peach's deaths
(they're all brought back because they're the heroes of prophecy)
Luvbi's death, followed by her father reminding you that you cannot fail your journey, and you must not let anyone else ever feel this pain
O'Chunks and Bowser's deaths
Peach's death
Luigi's death
Count Bleck and Tippi remember who they truly are, but it's too late for them to love again, because...
Count Bleck's death
aaaand finally, THE END OF ALL worlds

technically three times if you count when Dimentio fused with Luigi and the Chaos Heart to become God himself

SCORCHED SPLIT PROWLER IN HALF AND THEN DELIBERATELY GAVE UP CONTROL SO HE COULD WATCH HOG FALL TO HIS KNEES IN ANGUISH AND CRY OVER THE LOSS OF HIS BEST FRIEND

let's take a break from the sadness for a second so i can express how f**king funny it is to me that Luigi is vital in a dark ritual that involves the villain becoming God himself

the main cast literally dies in an explosion and goes to hell, which is where the next chapter takes place

I'm not gonna lie the names of these characters make it a whole lot less sad

god, just watching the ending again to type all this made me cry. i legit cried again while typing this comment.

Update: in the newer version, SCORCHED, reflecting on his choices his broken past, his selfishness, HE BREAKS DOWN AND CRIES AND SAYS I DONT WANNA DIE ALONE AND BEFORE HOG CAN CHOISE WHETHER TO CONSOLE HIM OR NOT THEY ARE BOTH PERMANENTLY WIPED FROM EXISTENCE. SCORCHED DID DIE ALONE. THE CARTRIDGE WAS FRIED

I mean, that's sad, but since it's a Mario game it's all whimsical. This is a Sonic.EXE. There's now joy in this story.

Or at least, moreso whimsical, with colorful characters

these guys. all of them. all 100. all of their personalities, all of the unique lives they led, about as recognized as tears in the rain.
it wasn't just them. it was their king. their families. their friends. their entire world was consumed by the void. they didn't go to heaven or hell. they didn't go anywhere. they got erased. wiped. deleted.

Just because there was only a couple characters in the main story means that's all to it? There weren't just five characters, just five main ones. There's as many Hog characters as there are are Sonic characters. So many people. Gone. Everyone, regardless of the life they had outside of the main story, gone.

never said that. and while i can agree that's tragic, just think about the scale of Sammer's Kingdom being destroyed.
there are 101 characters that you know for a fact are WIPED. that's not even taking into account their offscreen families, friends, relatives, or any of that. it was a whole DIMENSION. reduced to... this. 7zasez.jpg (click to show)
