Undyne survives a hit in the genocide route that could've killed her, a trait amalgamates have, plus the star symbol for determination are hearts, which are all over undyne. And when she's about to die she starts melting like snowdrake's mother so i think the only reason undyne can be around is because she was a sucsessful test due to still being young and have her whole life ahead of her so she was more energetic and was actually able to survive the determination also because she had'nt fallen down yet

Personally I figured she got drugged with artificial determination because it would make her stronger, and more capable of protecting the other monsters. Besides, she's apparently unaware of the other amalgamates, since Alphys is practically tearing her hair out about the topic..

What if undyne wasn't in the true lab and got a shot of determination by alphys

You have a point, but if undyne was a successful test, than how can she not break the barrier?

Amalgamates were intended to have enough determination to break the barrier

Actually, they were intended to be able to keep the monster souls around after death so they could break the barrier with just 6 human souls.
