Republican Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) has announced plans today to put an end to the prosecutions of President Donald Trump.

Clyde unveiled plans to stop the flow of money to state and federal officials who are targetting Trump with politically motivated cases ahead of the 2024 election.

Clyde said he will use the appropriations process to defund Special Counsel Jack Smith, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ prosecutorial authority in order to protect the integrity of the 2024 presidential election.

Clyde is working on two amendments to the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies (CJS) Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2024 to prohibit the use of federal funding for the prosecution of any major presidential candidate prior to the upcoming presidential election on November 5th, 2024.

One amendment would prevent taxpayer dollars from funding federal prosecutions, while a second would prohibit funding for state prosecutions.

The Biden administration will run out of money at the end of September so the GOP has some leverage should they want to use it.
