I hate when any company race swaps characters (no matter what race) because my autistic self gets so mad when unnecessary changes are made to the canon and it just screws everything up for me. I get that representation is important but changing the race of an already existing character for no reason has the complete opposite effect, it's really just pandering and nobody likes it. Lazy writing.

There have been some race swaps that actually work because there was a reason for the switch, like an AU concept. Like Superman: Red Sun was really cool because Superman ended up being Russian instead of American and it made a huge turn of events. And that show Black Jesus ended up being pretty cool because they race swapped him for comedic effect (I know there are some arguments that Jesus could have been Black irl buy that's besides the point). If it's for the plot it's cool, if it's just to kiss ass it's dumb.

the first time around i imagined grover as black, so its not that bad. but annabeth is definitely a poor move.

I think we all first imagined Grover as black but my headcannon is that he's Mexican.

Yeah, Grover doesn’t really matter to me as much. Annebeth feels wrong though. A part of her character is to subvert the “dumb blond” trope.
