OK SO I HAVE A THEORY:; If you notice the zombies closely, you will see that they have similar features with Steve. (same clothes, face and hair). So what if zombies used to be Steves that died and came back to life as a hostile mob ? Another thing that might explain my theory is that sometimes zombies drop carrots and potatoes. Those might be the food a Steve carried before he turned into a zombie, so when you get one, you accually get the last food item a pre-zombified Steve had.
