Yeah, but as a character he's just beautifully put into the story. His voice actor NAILS his demeanor, the mission where you break him out out of the prison in valentine perfectly captures who he is.
There's also smaller details, like his horse. Which is the horse John rides if you have low honor in red dead 1 (I'm going off of memory by now, so correct me if I'm wrong.)
