As a child I had long hair because I was growing it out until I was 9-10. I had never cut it. When I did end up cutting it, I was told I couldn't donate it? My hair wasn't dead or anything of the sort, really. I took good care of it. I was told by my parents no one would want such an ugly color, ('m a brunette.) So that turned into younger me hating my hair color and being ashamed of it. My mother had cancer twice, and she's went bald on multiple occasions. I grew up in a abusive house. (No, my mother wasn't the one to stop me from donating it, my dad at the time was.) Luckily, we got out of there, and he's been in and out of prison for selling drugs and assault. He has multiple other families, and he is both mentally and physically abusive. I was once looking for more information about him, and found an article about him putting loaded guns and a meth mashine next to a two year old (who was apparently me.) I am glad to say we are doing (somewhat) better now.
