The Beijing convention also covers kids and youth in detention or custody. They cannot be denied food, so much so that food cannot be used as a reward because if some kids are rewarded with food, it means that others are denied that food.
T(e USA is not a signatory to the Beijing convention though (capital punishment is not permitted). So that’s a right that Chinese kids have that US kids don’t.
