Actually the expiration date for food that goes stale (like chips, bread and cans of soup) actually aren't talking about how long they are good for, it actually is saying when the foods flavor starts to degrade

@High_hopes_for_life2 Not even that.. thats the date up until they garantee you can eat it. If it went bad before in germany you could sue them. But generally they can make excuses and say its one in a million. But it also makes sure they notice the public when something wents wrong (bacteria, plastic or metall parts in food etc..). If they wouldnt do it, people could sue the living sh*t out of them. *the more you know!
