Phantom was sneaking down the hallway of a fancy, expensive apartment building. He was hired to assassinate a target who lived in a penthouse on the top floor. The door was right next to him, but he had no idea how to get in without being seen. Suddenly, he got an idea. There was a rather large ventilation system to his left. It would be a tight fit if he went inside, but surely it could lead to the room his target was in… right? He opened the grate with a screwdriver, and crawled in. He went to the left, and then went upwards until he saw another grate. He could see the target in the room.
Phantom (whisper): here goes nothing.
He punches the vent open and darts toward the shadowy figure in the room. He swings his sword at it, only for the figure to block it with a blade of their own!
He could see the figure clearly now.
It was a female figure, slightly shorter than Phantom, and wearing a similar outfit to him. But that didn’t matter.
???: You don’t just come out of nowhere and attack someone!
Phantom: Sorry, but I wasn’t doing this for no reason. I’m getting paid to kill you. Aren’t you [generic placeholder name]?
???: No? I was in here because I was paid to kill him!
Phantom: So… we both are here for the same reason?
???: Yep. I was a stealth op in the Navy before I quit that to become an assassin.
Phantom: Oh. Uhh… that must be a huge coincidence, because I did the exact same thing. Do I know you?
???: I think, wasn’t your code name Phantom or something?
Phantom: yep.
???: Knew it. I was, uhh… Spectre or something. IDK.
Phantom: Uhh… sorry for attacking you?
Spectre: It’s ok. I see why you did it. So uhh…
…what now?
