NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HATE, GENUINE QUESTION

NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HATE, GENUINE QUESTION | Ok I'm not transphobic but can someone explain why trans people make me uncomfortable?? Like I genuinely wouldn't want to be in the same room as a trans person unless they're a close friend. This isn't supposed to be a hate post, and I'm not against trans I'm just afraid of them. Genuine concern. Could someone explain why? I genuinely myself do not know. | image tagged in homo's btd-themed temp | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

It might just be internalized transphobia that you don’t really control.

It's not your fault. To be honest, I used to deal with the same thing. It's because of what society teaches us about gender norms and crap that internalizes these beliefs. I can tell you're a good person, and the main thing to do is ask yourself why you're thinking this.

it might just be internalized transphobia... You just sort of have to grow out of it and unlearn it. I still have trouble with minor transphobia, and I'm trans myself! Its just something you are taught as a child and you have to get out of that mindset. As long as you are aware of it and trying to get better, its alright. People can grow and change. I believe in you! πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Yeah as a child I was raised by anti-lgbtq+ parents which could be why I myself am transphobic (somewhat)
do you have any advice for how to overcome or grow out of it?

Just do research. Know that most hate comes from ignorance and/or misinformation. Take the time to learn about trans people, their stories, their history, and even find the masses of scientific data that actually backs up trans people's existence. Transphobes like the excuse of "basic biology" but many of them forget that "basic" means "simplified" so they don't actually know as much as they think they do.

Tldr, educate yourself, find empathy and learn about trans people. Then they won't seem so scary.

I really like the YouTuber Jammidodger, he's a trans man and has several videos that are very informative (and also some funny ones where he reacts to queer memes and stuff)
There's a journalist and activist named Jacob Tobias, who is non-binary, and their stuff is pretty interesting
There's a specific episode of "Bill Nye Saves the World" which is about gender and sexuality

As for websites, I don't have any off the top of my head. I would just recommend checking to see if they are reliable sources before taking anything as facts. peer-reviewed studies are best, as they usually come from experts.
