As a furry, I can state as a fact that there is a large portion of the fandom that takes it too far, sexualizes stuff, and acts super cringe. But a majority of the community/fandom, including myself, are just cosplayers who think anthropomorphic animals are cool. Nobody should make assumptions about large groups of people.
