Scientists have created an outpost in a small forest clearing where the black substance has formed into a small pile. The substance was indeed dangerous, scientists tested what the substance did to a rat, and they reported that the rat sank into the substance. A few minutes later, a purple rat corpse emerged. The corpse had skin, but it was barely hanging on. The rat looked as if it died of starvation. Reports said the rat got up and started walking like normal, although it was a bit aggressive. Scientists also reported hearing pained, rat-like shrieking noises for the next few days. This sparked some trauma inside the scientists’ minds, and those who witnessed the rat’s death were sent to a mental hospital until further notice. The outpost was shortly shut down, and was gone in a few hours after the incident. The substance has been spreading across the forest, consuming all plant and animal life in its path.
- 2 Days Later -
Phantom walked across the forest. It was 2 in the morning, and he couldn’t sleep. Walking in the forest at night helped him think. He had heard about the substance, and knew what it did. He was careful around it.
He sat down on a log near the substance. The substance seemed to be multiplying, very slowly. Phantom stared into the black, gooey abyss. It was pretty. Almost hypnotizing. He could hear a voice…
“ j̸̰͗ǔ̶̘m̶͈͂p̴̈́ͅ ̶͓̌ỉ̷͉n̸̝̅.̷̤̂”
Within a second, he was pulled in. He didn’t do it on purpose. Something grabbed him. Phantom struggled to breathe as the substance consumed him. His vision was dim, and all he could see was his arm up in front of him. He saw the substance go through and destroy his sleeve like it was dust as it attacked him. His arm stung so much. He saw in horror as his skin slowly melted away. Suddenly, he could see nothing but light.
“AUUGHH!”
He woke up in his bed. It was all just a dream. Or was it? It felt so… real. And he still had a sharp pain in every part of his body. It felt as if something, someone went through his body and ripped out his soul. He sighed as he went back to sleep. But before he closed his eyes, he saw it.
