so in 2003 there was this band from florida called yellowcard and this guy ryan key who was the lead singer was like “what if i wrote a song about my hometown of neptune beach” and so he did. there was this street called cherry street that he lived on and that’s why there’s the lyric “there’s a place off cherry street” is in there. meanwhile, the guitarist, ben harper, was living in melbourne beach on a house on ocean boulevard but it didn’t quite fit with the rhythm of the song so it was changed to ocean avenue, which is also in melbourne beach and where i took this screenshot (at the intersection of oak street and ocean avenue.) song got super popular in the pop punk scene and here we are now.
