That's understandable. I'm converting to Judaism and personally the belief that there's a higher power that loves and watches over me, offering me protection as long as I'm a decent human being, is very comforting. I don't see myself as controlled, but gently guided in the right direction with the choice to follow the right path. My life was just falling apart when I was agnostic and I'm so glad I became religious. It's interesting how some people can't live without faith while others would rather live without it.
