Gemstone: Remind me why we are doing this again?

Sumac: hopefully we won’t need it at all.

Ivy: they might notice somethings wrong if we use magic. I’d rather not use it at all.

Rose: *Interrupting Ivy* Ivy, remember, we can’t kill the guards at the base if we’re going to continue stealing food from them. Besides, those guards have families too.

Ivy: I won’t, mom.

Maple: ill knock ‘em out. Ivy can paralyze them after to make sure they don’t try anything. They’ll increase security after we do this anyways, and probably accelerate how fast wasp takes complete control of the hives.

Rose: hopefully she’ll just force most of the dragons into one or two hives before she tries anything, that way we get the supplies no matter what. It would be very hard to control everyone in separate hives because they have their own groups.

Maple: she’s doing far too well with that already, she definitely won’t do that. We better take as much supplies as we can now because I bet the risk is going to be too bad to get anymore after this.

Rose: Maple, remember I was lost down here for several years. I don’t know the full extent of Wasp’s abilities.

Gemstone: *nods*

Rose: alright everyone, this is our only chance. We need to take as much as we can and get out. Our priorities are food and water. Let’s move out. *she whispers to herself* this isn’t a good idea, but it needs to be done.

Maple: follow me, I’ll knock out the guards, stay hidden.

*Gemstone nods and quietly clashes her bracelets together and she turns invisible and whispers to them* Is this good?

Maple: by Clearsight, that’s perfect!

*Ivy jumps back at the sound, and her being scared of magic doesn’t help*

Sumac: is it going to be like that to make yourself reappear? The guards might hear that.

Gemstone: Yes, but I will reappear only when we are back out or we need to protect ourselves. *She turns to Ivy* Do not be scared. This is one of the royal IceWing maagic objects only accessed by the queen.

Sumac: this is going to get confusing, but I guess it’s a lot better than nothing.

Maple: alright cut the chatter we’re moving out. Keep your heads low.

(Just to be clear, the rest of them aren’t invisible, right?)

*Gemstone walks silently behind them*

*you all crept forward, staying low to avoid being seen, once you were closer to the edge, you all stopped, except for Maple who hid behind one of the nearby greenhouses first before approaching the guards to make sure it looked like she was lost. Below was the following exchange, Ivy and Sumac took places to kill the guards the quickest way possible if needed too.*

Guard A: you there! Why are you out here?

Maple: s-sorry, I got lost.

Guard B: you shouldn’t be out right now. There is a curfew in place to make sure we don’t get another Bloodworm situation.

Maple: sorry sir, it won’t happen again. *apologetically*

Guard A: well.. hurry on inside. The queen should be here in a few days. Rounding up terrorists that are trying to flee the site.

Maple: I actually escaped from there, I’m scared, I hope my family’s ok.

Guard B: oh, poor thing. We’re going to have to take you in for questioning now. It’s great you were there, you could really help with our investigation.

*both guards moved to apprehend Maple, as soon as they were close enough, she took out some sort of flower and crushed it, sending dust into both of the guard’s faces. Both of them were knocked out almost instantly. Maple stopped breathing to let the dust settle and moved away from the area to avoid the same fate. Ivy rushed out and stabbed the guards with here wrist stinger to make sure they couldn’t do anything for a few hours*

Maple: that wasn’t perfectly executed, but that works, forgot what I was going to say.

Ivy: yeah, you have to work in your excuses, but that worked better than I thought it would.

Sumac: let’s just get the supplies before they wake up or they swap in new guards for the rotation.

Rose: compliments later, we have to hurry.

*Gemstone continues to follow them. She is so silent that they think she isn't following them anymore*

Rose: we better move quickly. I don’t want them to end up having one guard patrolling this area and he finds us because we’re talking.

*She nods and surprisingly clashes the bracelets again, but no one hears it and she disappears*

Sumac; and she’s gone again…

Maple: alright, it doesn’t matter, we’re all meeting back here anyways.

Rose: here’s the list of what Swallowtail wanted. Try to find an open crate and fit it all in there.

Ivy: got it. Let’s go Sumac, we’ve got a job to do.

Sumac: *sighing* right behind you.

*Ivy and Sumac exit through an open window carefully so you don’t have to open and close the door again and make more noise*

*Gemstone grabs a piece of food. It looks like it is floating, which scares one of them*

Maple: *she’s the one that gets scared. Rose is grabbing food crates at a time* that actually does look really creepy.

Rose: well she turned herself invisible..

*you all heard something outside. It sounded like something was thrown against the wall*

Maple: *quieter* what was that?

*Rose was close enough to hear them talking, she put a talon over her mouth and put one of her ears to the wall*

Rose: *very quiet, you and Maple were barely able to hear her* continue gathering food, I’m going to listen to see what this is about.

*She nods and continues*

*whatever happened outside must have stopped since Rose started to gather crates of food again. Some of them were fruits or vegetables being grown in the green houses.*

Rose: *quietly* someone might be coming around soon, so we have to hurry.

Maple: I think we’ve got as much as we can carry. Why the vegetables though?

Rose: we can grow them with our leafspeak if we have too. I remembered the silkwings are vegetarians too.

Maple: true.. should we wait here?

Rose: nowhere else to go.

Gemstone: *silent*

*you waited for some time. Finally, Ivy and Sumac come back but they had to open the main doorway. You immediately see why they did, Ivy was dragging a knocked out Hivewing around her age*

Ivy: we found as much of the stuff on the list as we could, side note, we apparently also have a test subject.

Maple: how in the book—

Ivy: *Ivy seemed to already know what both Maple and Rose were about to ask* they opened the door on us. Luckily I was quick enough to knock them out without a problem. We need to go before they wake up and alert the whole hive.

Rose: *she sighs* I’ll carry the dragonet and some supplies, but I’ll end up carrying less. She can’t stay here or we’re going to have an extremely hard time stealing supplies later. I think we still have enough dragons to carry everything. We can ditch the stuff Swallowtail asked for if we need too. Food and not getting caught is our first priority.

Gemstone: *carrying a few pieces with her tail* I have an idea.

Rose: what’s the idea?

*She doesn't say anything. She puts the food down for a second and walks over to a crate and puts her hands on it. They guessed she was going to enchant it to be invisible along with the items inside it and follow her so they could carry everything*

Rose: I like the idea but won’t everything remain invisible?

Gemstone: I can help with that. I enchanted it so when I turn visible, so will the crate and the things inside it.

*the rest of them look to the other crates they had gathered*

Ivy: we can’t copy that spell to the rest of the crates though, your soul.

Sumac: what do you mean “your soul?”

Ivy: animus magic hurts your soul, if you use it too much you’ll go insane.

Gemstone: I enchanted my necklace to where I would not lose my soul.

Ivy: didn’t Darkstalker try to do the same thing with his scroll?

*everyone else looked at her weirdly*

Ivy: I don’t want the same thing to happen to another dragon.

Gemstone: I'm not like Darkstalker.

Ivy: I’ve been told the same thing could happen with any dragon.. I don’t want the same thing to happen to you.

Maple: Ivy. We need to get out of here, we’re lucky enough to have a very nice dragon helping us out with magic. It would be a lot worse if we got captured. I think we should use the magic and save the argument for another day.

*Ivy looks at her and back to you*

Ivy: you’re right, I just don’t want her to get hurt.

Maple: I know.. now let her do her thing.

*She sighs*

Ivy: so a-animus m-magic does work. *she seems to be afraid of you, the other dragons don’t know why*

Maple: come on Ivy you took out three patrols leaving no survivors, what’s the matter with you?

Ivy: hivewings are one thing. Animus magic on the other talon is an entirely different beast.

???: You guys aren’t going to like this.

*the other dragon was back*

Maple: Sumac, what’s wrong?

Sumac: we’re either gonna need to deal with the guards at the bottom or we’re gonna need to fly up the side and free climb our way to a landing when we’re closer to the top. I thought I saw guards on some of the upper platforms.

Maple: dealing with the guards down here shouldn’t be an issue. Hang on I think I still have it.. *she reaches into a bag she was carrying and pulls out a cape* yep.

Ivy: where did you get that thing?

Maple: while I was hiding in Jewel Hive helping Jade, Jade went to go steal several capes to hide my wings. Supposedly Jade’s step-father ended up buying them not knowing who would be using them or why they were needed.

Ivy: you’re lucky I guess.

Rose: very lucky, that would have been helpful to have a few years ago.

Maple: relax, I can get this done in several seconds. Stay close. *Maple puts on the cape and prepares to leave the cave*

Gemstone to Ivy: There is no need to be afraid of me. I am not like my ancestors son. As you know as Darkstalker. *she turns to the others* Also, what about my color? Actually, they could think I am some kind of very bright and unusual/ deformed SilkWing.

Maple: eh.. more likely to get you killed, or captured and investigated at the very least.

Rose: Maple’s right. You’re safer here until we can find a way in. After that you’ll probably be fine unless someone reports you. I can’t imagine that though since it’s night now. The only thing we’ll have to avoid is probably the street guards, or maybe the occasional straggling dragon, though I haven’t been to Mantis Hive. I don’t know how strict they are with their rules.

Sumac: well, if we get captured, Wasp is going to infect us, so we’ll probably be screwed no matter what. Maybe we should use your magic now to figure out how to stop the mind control before we try to steal the supplies incase we get captured.

Ivy: that’s a good idea. Hopefully she doesn’t though because that means Wasp has full on magic at her disposal. She’ll make herself the most powerful dragon alive and wipe the rest of us out with it.

Gemstone: *she leaves into an underground cave system, and comes back up camouflaged like a SilkWing, except for her wings.* This could work I just need something to cover my wings.

Maple: I don’t have a cape that fits you. Besides, once I put them to sleep you’ll be fine. It’s better if you’re camouflaged though incase we need to hide in a dark area. By the trees I forgot how uncomfortable this was.

Ivy: you’ll probably do better than I would.

Maple; you have no hesitation.

Ivy: and I would immediately kill them, which might alert the other hivewings.

Maple: fair point. Alright, stay close, but stay hidden until the guards are knocked out.

Gemstone: Okay. I will use my magic if needed.

Sumac: I have a crate of medical supplies apparently, I must have picked them up by mistake.

Maple: that’s actually better, does it have bandages by any chance?

*Sumac sets some of his crates down to check*

Sumac: yes.

*Rose still had the knocked out dragonet on her back, Maple set down her crates and took the bandages from Sumac’s crate. Then she wrapped a few of them around the dragonet’s eyes to make sure she didn’t see anything when she woke up. Maple and Sumac quickly picked up their crates again*

Rose: good idea Maple. We should move out before those hivewings figure out some of their food is missing.

Gemstone: They honestly wouldn't care, knowing them.

Rose: I don’t think we stole enough for them to notice it anyway.

*you all move through the caves as quickly as you could. You found a group of free dragons underground and have them some of the food before moving on. You found two groups in total and lost most of your food to them. Some of the medical supplies were used up in the camps and most of the medical supplies were gone*

Epilogue:

Somewhere in dragonfly bay…

Swallowtail couldn’t see, for it would give away their position. Queen Wasp never tried to control him, maybe he was too far off most of Pantala for her, but that’s not likely. Maybe she had more important things to worry about. It was hard to tell when someone was coming to talk to him with the blindfold, but he could still hear their footsteps.

“Swallowtail, are you alright?” It was Autumn. He must not have been looking great for her to ask that, but then again, he wasn’t feeling great either.

“I’m having second thoughts,” he said, “I don’t think I could make a cure for the Breath of Evil…”

“Swallowtail, come on, you’ll do okay.”

“I don’t think we’ll have enough time, and I don’t have the experience… we’ll have to hope Pyrrhia sends help.”

“We could try.”

“At this point, I think it’s best we just hide and wait for help.” He curled up as best he could. Autumn continued to try to comfort him, but it was no use…

Ivy: hm… what if you add on to the enchantment of the gauntlets instead of creating a spell for each crate?

Gemstone: these have already been enchanted, but I'll try.

Ivy: has adding on to an enchantment ever been done before?

*she nods* Yes. But only by my ancestors brother. *she takes the gauntlets off and adds the enchantment. She puts them back on and clashes them. She reappears*

Ivy: can it make all of us invisible?

Maple: she made her entire army invisible with it, so I assume she could.

*She clashes them and they all disappear*

(They would all still be able to see each other, right, I forgot how the gift of stealth works)

*You all hurried inside. You hid behind buildings and avoided patrolling guards pretty well. Eventually you made it to the warehouse district and began looking for where the food was located*

Sumac: *whispering* should we split up? It will reduce our chances of being caught.

Maple: *looking around first, then whispering* they don’t have the guards to patrol this area of the hive and keep a curfew for the silkwings. They have to deal with the downed bridge and it’s homes too. They’ll probably patrol that more as it provides another entrance from the ground.

Rose: we’ll split up once we found the food stores and figure out what we can carry. Two of you could move on to find some of the things Swallowtail requested.

Maple: I understand, but what if it’s something heavy?

Rose: leave it, we need to carry as much of the essentials as we can now.

Ivy: understood. Is Genstone still with us? *she pauses for you to respond*

Gemstone: *quietly* Yes. *she says from behind Ivy, startling her*

*Ivy jumps again and scratch’s your face*

Ivy: *looking a little angry after that* I guess that’s a yes.

Maple: good, let’s move forward.

*Sumac finds one of the food store houses*

*all whispering*

Sumac: I think I found it.

Rose: well, let’s see.

*Sumac and Rose carefully open the door without making any noise, there were crates upon crates of food there. Most of it fruits and vegetables, but there was some meat being kept cool in there. As soon as everyone was in, Rose and Sumac shut the door and locked it from the inside*

Rose: we should get at least one crate of either fruits and vegetables. If the need arises, we can use our leafspeak to grow food. We’ll also need to save a few crates for fresh water.

Maple: understood, let’s stack our supplies by the door. That way we can pick them all up on the way out.

Rose: we should form groups now and split up now. Well the other group should meet us back here when they’re done. Remember, keep the nonessential supplies light.

Ivy: alright, who’s with me?

*Maple was about to speak but she was cut off*

Sumac: I’ll go I guess

Ivy: … fine *she doesn’t sound too happy about it*. If Gemstone is here she can decide what group she wants to join.

*Gemstone heads with Rose*

Ivy: *she still jumped a little, despite you not being near her*

*Sumac looks at her strangely*

Ivy: oh don’t start, I don’t think you’ve ever been alone in the poison jungle before. You were all cozy in the vine dome while I was—

Rose: Ivy..

Ivy; *she looks at her mother*

Rose: let’s focus. No arguing, alright?

Ivy: I’ll try my best.

Rose: I think Gemstone’s over here.

Gemstone: *silently clashes the bracelets and appears about 4ft away from Ivy*

*Ivy seems a little relieved, but still concerned about you*

Ivy: it just scares me is all, but I don’t want you to get caught. Which group did you pick?

Gemstone: I'm deciding between yours and Rose's.

Ivy: this is.. this is something else… *she’s starting to get used to the magic*

Rose: I did think of a logistical problem, we can’t see ourselves and we can’t see the crates, but I guess this means they can’t see us either.

Sumac: try not to bump into each other.

Maple: this is gonna be tough to coordinate but I think we can do it.

*Somehow you all managed to grab as many of the crates as you all could carry while they were all invisible. You began to make your way down the hive again, still hiding behind stuff incase someone was coming and you accidentally knocked into them.*

*Gemstone leads them*

*you start taking the main roads. You walked right passed a patrol and they didn’t see anything since everyone was invisible. The guards at the bottom of the hive were still knocked out when you got there., the home stretch was to that cave you all started from*

*Gemstone continues to walk*

*you here several guards come down behind you. Maybe they were going for a shift change. It made sense, the moons were about to go down, but it still wasn’t quite day yet*

Guard A: *waving a talon in front of one of they’re faces* hello… hello? Yeah, they’re out cold.

Guard B: I don’t blame them, nothing much happens here.

Guard A: let’s get them inside, find them a better place to rest.

*you see the two guards who came to take they’re places drag them and their weapons back inside and behind the doors, they come back out to stand guard like nothing weird had happened*

*you’re now far enough away you can talk without them noticing, you’re almost there*

Maple: must be the usual for them.

Rose: well, it is in the back few hives, I was expecting a little something like Bloodworm hive.

Maple: I was too.

*Gemstone nods*

*you make it back inside the cave no problem, it would be safe to turn everyone visible again*

Sumac: now we’ll have to take these to one of the groups hiding in the caves.

Rose: it’s the right thing to do, they need it more than we do. Some of them have dragonets that are barely a few months old with them.

*Gemstone makes them visible again*

Rose: that was the weirdest feeling not seeing myself.

Ivy: … guys.. I think we left the crate with all the stuff Swallowtail wanted behind.

*everyone checked their crates. She was right, you left it behind, but you still had the food.*

Rose: then he’s out of luck, we’re not risking going back in there. We’ve got food for the silkwings and leafwings who are still free, and we should deliver it to them before we pull another stunt like that.

*she nods*

*one of them was a hybrid leafwing, they spoke to you*

Ivy: look, we’re stealing food and water because we need it to survive. Our secondary goal is to capture a few scientific supplies and chemicals that our friend thinks we need to make a cure for the mind control. He thinks we’ll be able to make one but he’s not sure he can make one in time.

Maple: look the chemicals he requested are secondary, we’ll probably not be able to carry them.

Gemstone: *She just rolls her eyes and continues looking at the hive, planning where to strike a HiveWing if needed*

Ivy: look, I don’t trust him either. But we need the food anyways.

Maple: Autumn seems to trust him. I think the idea’s a long shot, but it could work.

Ivy: and I’m not Autumn.

Rose *she seemed to be the only adult there*: I think he’s one of the few chances left to stop Wasp before she goes too far with this. Unless we get more help from the other continent, though that could be a while.

*everyone turned their eyes towards the hive and the dragon crouching to hide himself in the field. Despite his green scales, he was pretty hard to spot in the tall grass. It was sunset, and soon it would be time for you all to infiltrate the hive*

Gemstone: I can't wait to go squash some bugs. (HiveWings. Autumn isn't the only adult. Gemstone is an adult and the Queen of IceWings.)

(Autumn isn’t an adult. Rose is an adult, she’s Ivy’s mother. Autumn isn’t there + she’s a silk/hive hybrid. My bad for not making that clear. Also this does take place before the end of arc 3. Ivy by contrast is a Leaf/Hive hybrid)

Rose: the purpose of the mission is not to kill hivewings. It’s just to steal supplies. If we’re exposed in any way, Wasp will have the hive swarming with hivewings to make sure we don’t escape. And Ivy, don’t be rude *she said sternly*.

Ivy: I’m sorry.

*Maple and Rose look confused, Ivy recoils in fear though. She’s been trapped on Pyrrhia for the whole Darkstalker fiasco. However, one of her best friends was an animus before animus magic broke, so she hesitantly comes back*

Ivy: a-animus magic..?

Rose: .. Ivy? You know what it is?

Ivy: in Pyrrhia, animus magic is very powerful, at least until it broke. One dragon was using it to manipulate other dragons and give them abilities. Then almost started a war to wipe out another tribe. On the other talon, animus magic can also be used in good ways. I know a dragon who created a ring that heals any disease or injury unless the dragon is dead.

Rose: … *she looks at you for a second* I have a better idea. What if we used the animus magic to find the root of the problem? Like create a scroll to answer questions and ask how we can stop Wasp’s mind control.

Ivy: I said animus magic seems to be broken. It might not work.

Gemstone: It works. Watch. *she clears her throat and grabs a rock,* I enchant this rock to glow when it gets nighttime. *she turns to them.* now we just wait till nightfall.

*the sun is just dipping below the horizon now. The dragon outside the cave was slowly backing up to make sure he wasn’t caught*

*gemstone looks at the rock.* Moment of truth. *the moon rises, and the rock glows*
