Dr. Desolation had already chartered a small ship to take to Infernus. He and Awenasa flew to the planet, ready for whatever they might face.
They were surprised when they landed at Infernus Prison. There were no guards anywhere, yet everything seemed to be in perfect order.
"I've got a bad feeling about this," Dr. D admitted.
Awen smirked. "First time?"
They went inside the building which, for some reason, was completely unlocked. Dr. D led the way down a hallway dimly illuminated by red lights on the floor. On each wall was a row of cryogenic freeze tanks for containing the prisoners. All of them were empty.
"Look at this," Awen said, pointing to a console next to one of the tanks.
Dr. D read it. It said "Prisoner 1202: Greed."
"Hello there," came a voice.
At the end of the hall stood a golden-skinned man with horns and four arms.
"Greed," Dr. D growled. "How did you escape?"
"Simple, really," Greed said with a wry smile. "We used our powers to figure out a way to escape."
"Where are the other vices?" Awen demanded.
"Long gone," Greed said. "They're already searching for the Amp Crystal."
"Why you -" Awen snarled, and shot an arrow at Greed. He simply caught it in midair.
"Hah! Pathetic," Greed chuckled. He waved another hand over the arrow, and it multiplied into an entire bundle.
"You see this?" Greed told Awen. "All these arrows could be yours if you let me go."
Awen felt hypnotized by Greed's offer. She slowly began walking towards Greed, reaching for the arrows. She grabbed them and stuffed them in her quiver.
Greed laughed maniacally. "Foolish snake! Smell ya later!"
And he took off out of the door.
"Come back here, you!" Dr. D exclaimed. He threw a potion bottle at Greed, and it exploded in a blast of indigo smoke. But Greed still stood.
"You really think you can blow up the embodiment of greed himself?" Greed sneered.
And he ran out of the building.
Awen shook her head to exit her trance. She looked at the wisps of blue smoke and the open door.
"Oh no," she muttered. "I got tempted and let Greed escape."
"Don't worry," Dr. D reassured her. "Let's check the control room. Perhaps we can find clues to where the other Vices are."
Inside the control center, all the guards were asleep. "Likely the work of Laziness," Dr. D remarked. They looked on the computer.
"Aha!" Awen shouted. "I found Greed's trajectory. He's flying a spaceship to the desert planet Sahra."
"Then that's where we're going next," Dr. Desolation said.
