Yeah, people overlook it and whine that it is just gays bragging and flaunting about, but it's actually a very important historical event. It's based out of awareness for freedom, it's not just a willy nilly cosmetic thing. But as have most holidays, it's been tremendously commercialized to the point where people don't take it seriously and understand it's proper meaning.

My fave dinosaur is the Quetzalcoatlus (ket-zel-co-aht-lus), it was the biggest flying creature to have ever lived. It had a 40-ft wingspan and was named after an Aztec god, Quetzalcoatl (ket-zel-co-ah-tuhl)

Yeah. Just like most holidays, it has been commercialized to the point where it hardly means anything. We just need to remember it as a time of our history, when we were fighting for our rights.

Tbh, I have a neutral opinion on Pride Month.

But, spinosaurus and veloiciraptor are my faves as well, as well as the Troodon, same foes with the Titanoboa, although...Can ya consider it as one?

While I agree that veterans or men's mental health should get a month, there's still a really good reason and meaning for pride month
It originated from the Stonewall Riots on June 28, 1969, when a huge fight between previously innocent people at a gay bar and either police or homophobes or both (i don't remember which exactly) took place
Several gay people were murdered during this time period, and that's where the idea for pride month came from
At this point, it's been commercialized so much that people don't even realize what it's about anymore, and so by extent people also think it's just some bullshit because gay people are bullied. It's for actual people who actually were killed and lynched, and it's trying to get more positive awareness so that something like the Stonewall Riots doesn't happen again

However if society was actually functioning we wouldn't need pride month to say that we are here and we need rights.

Pride month...eh, mixed feelings. Companies pretend to care about us for a couple weeks. I am in agony because I can't go to pride festivals and stuff. I am constantly reminded of parental homophobia and gender dysphoria. Also, this one person I shouldn't have come out to says I should get AIDS and die already. Overall it makes me feel worse about my identity, and it's a constant reminder that I have to endure 2 more years before escaping this and going to college and getting therapy and fixing my broken life. I like that pride month happens, but I have no way to actually enjoy it. So, 6/10.

Agreed. Companies and big name celebs/infulencers will use it as a ploy to appeal to an audience based on the voice they have in the media, or use it to get a voice. People do the same thing with Black History Month, along with other months. They're minimizing history into a month; and it's wrong. I don't need a month. People who acknowledge that people like us exist are fairly enough for me. We've come so far, but when people even simply disagree, some people who claim to be in this community will lash out in horrible ways. I have experienced this from a supposed fellow LGBTQ member, and it's insane to me that someone could do that to somebody based on beliefs or asking a simple question. I just want people to know, that if people are going to be this violent, maybe we shouldn't claim them. Just saying.
