What exactly did they do to them?

Cory's dad was very abusive. he killed Cory's mother when Cory was two. (Cory's dad's name is Chris btw)
once, Chris gave Cory beer so he could tell Cory how much he hates him while he was too delirious to retaliate.
one of the worst things Chris did was kill Netuno (Cory's brother). Cory had to hide in Netuno's corpse to avoid being killed as well.
anyway, when Teal Labs invaded Cory's hometown, many were being kidnapped. Cory tried to hide in his bedroom, but Chris brought him outside and right to the Teal Labs guards.

The Rift trilogy was a cataclysmic Multiversal event where JD, "Evil" Luigi, and Alt JD planned to take over the Multiverse, with the "Alts" being the parallel universe's versions of Josiah and the gang.The biggest thing during The Rift was that JDeluxe (the fused form of both JDs), found a cursed amulet that gave their magic tenfold amounts of power. But they became cursed in the process. Once Josiah separated their bodies and the spirit, all seemed well, right? WRONG! Both Josiahs had been severed from their spirits, unable to use their powers. And worse? The amulet's spirit combined with the Josiahs', which made him practically unstoppable. The Fusion had also stolen both Josiahs' friends (and JDs), who luckily escaped, temporarily, and opened a Multiverse portal to "fix" all the Josiahs and make them his slaves. However, Josiah fused with JD for about two seconds, then went Astral and started trying to destroy the fused spirit. Unfortunately, Josiah absorbed them, making a new form named Intergalactic Josiah. But this Josiah was controlled by the spirits, making him want to "fix" all the Josiahs. After a little confrontation with Mario, Mario and the others escaped and crashed a car. This fixed Luigi. And after confronting Intergalactic with both Malices (and AAs) too, Josiah was back.
