I mean… I’m not saying you’re wrong for following your religion, but it was kind of rude. You put “I don’t believe” I think you could have made a slightly lighter statement, such as “I am Christian, so yes, I don’t really agree with the LGBTQIA community.”

When talking to the mods about getting unbanned, I suggest saying something along the lines of “I understand that this person thought this comment was homophobic even though I never intended it to be. I’m sorry if it did sound homophobic and I will try to phrase it better if I get into a similar argument. I will try to be less homophobic in the future.” I thought the ban for that was bullshit since they clearly only cared about the one part. If that whole comment was cited, you might not have been banned. If you were reported, I think someone took that comment way out of context considering you did state MULTIPLE TIMES that you were not homophobic and didn’t care. You know how most people on social media act when you get into an argument. The only place that entire argument would fly is here on imgflip. Next time, if you see something involving the lgbtq+, try not to get involved at all. It helps and it doesn’t set a bad reputation for you.

If that one tiny bit was enough to qualify for a ban, something must have had to have happened that was really bad before or someone’s just salty. Tbh that should be a ban since you literally said you weren’t homophobic and gave a reason why in the same comment, but I’m not the server mod so it’s not my place to say.

If it was something else, the mods would have let me known. But they didn’t. They banned me permanently outright for one tiny comment.

You could ask for a ban appeal after your mute is over, I think a perma ban for it is unreasonable. Next time try not to engage in a fight so it doesn’t happen, I think even the mod you were talking to even agreed with you that the fight looked ridiculous. When you’re unmuted just say you’ll be more open to ideas about the lgbtq+. That’s all you have to say and you should be ok, those comments weren’t homophobic, and if they were taken as homophobic, then it wasn’t that homophobic from my point of view.

I bet you could even post that link to the lgbtq+ stream and ask if what you said was homophobic, they would tell you know, but again, that’s just what I think.

Nvm found it. You got rage baited into a fight. I wouldn’t be surprised if the other guy was banned for starting shit for no reason.

I’m reading the comments now, this is f**king hilarious. Dude did not have to go into a fight because you didn’t believe one of the characters was gay lmao. I do think that you were wrongfully banned because you did state MORE than several times you weren’t homophobic and this dude just kept accusing you of being homophobic, and the other dude that’s there trying to back him up says “yeah it seems so, hopefully it’s not” after the other person complains that your coming off as homophobic. If anything, both of you deserve a ban for several days, him for instigating it, you for getting rage baited into it. If you didn’t respond after the first few times, I think you would have been fine. I think with the actual books cited, you should have stopped there. Best thing to do sometimes is walk away from an obvious fight. From my perspective after seeing all of the comments, that guy was looking for trouble or otherwise just hated you and is hiding behind being pan (I think it was pan) for starting the fight that didn’t need to happen, then blames you for hiding behind trust issues as being homophobic. Next time try to type something that sounds nicer or instead of saying “I don’t believe you” when they pull up a few sources, say something along the lines of “thanks for the clarification, but I still don’t believe [insert idea here] is true, but that’s just what I think. I might do more research on it later.” If they want to start a fight after that, DO NOT ENGAGE because it will make the whole thing turn out bad. You might get unbanned if you changed that little bit there. Otherwise they really had no reason to ban you and you both should have been banned considering that argument was stupid as f**k, whether a person was lgbtq+ or not.

Yeah, next time this happens on any subreddit, just say something along the lines of “if this came across as homophobic I’m sorry, I didn’t mean for it to be homophobic if that’s what you thought.” And then leave it there. If they want to keep fighting you, don’t respond. I do think you were wrongfully banned is what I’m trying to say.
