The main reason of war is by three reasons, the first one being the clonewar that fought. The teams during the battles was the Galactic Republic clones of Kamino and the Separatist Allience, the army with the droids.
The Separatist fought the Republic in hope to tell the message that the Chancellor, that being Chancellor Palpatine planning to mislead the Jedi and the whole Republic itself, however the Jedi and clones did not beliveve the Separatist "lies", even if they were true even if they could not see it.
Later on, as the Clone War ended with the Separatist leaders Count Dooku and General Grievous being killed by the two Jedi Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Kenobi being the one to defeat Grievous on Utapau and Anakin being the one to save the Chancellor on the Separatist home ship with Count Dooku over Corusant during the battle of Corusant.
However not so much later, order 66 broke lose, making the clones inhabiator chip follow protocol Knightfall.
As Anakin turned to the darkside and reciving the name Darth Vader, the 501:st loyally followed and helped the new Sith apprentice kill off the last Jedi inside the Jedi temple.
After order 66 however, Obi-Wan Kenobi found himself on Mustafar with Vader, the apprentice of Sidious.
Vader, who burned in rage inside of him wanted power, as Obi-Wan tried to tell him that he was not on the side of the Empire, rather the Republic.
The big fight then started as Vader and Kenobi swung their sabers, clashing onto each others plasma saber, fighting versus each other.
But as ofcourse, then Obi-Wan Kenobi reached the higher ground upon a hill as Vader, stood on a lower moving metal platform above lava.
"It's over Anakin!" Obi-Wan says, looking down at his failed padawan. "I have the high ground!"
With a quick response, Anakin looks at Obi-Wan.
"You underestimate my power!" He yells to answer.
"Don't try it!" Obi-Wan shakes his head, looking at Anakin.
Anakin jumps with the Force at hand while holding his saber, yelling in rage before Obi-Wan quickly acts and cuts both Vaders legs off, aswell as his other arm.
As Anakin groan and yell in pain, the master Jedi looks down at his failed padawan once again.
"You were my brother, Anakin, I loved you!" Kenobi says to Vader looking down at him.
"I HATE YOU!" Vader responds as he slowly gets consumed by the flames of lava...
Obi-Wan looks sadly at his former padawan and friend, then takes his saber, leaving with it.
