Can't they just let us have a summer vacation

Essentially us drumline members, and only people in drumline, are being forced to go to clinics to help us improve as musicians before band camp, when we do more nonstop music
I wouldn't be getting much out of going to these since 1. I'm really good at learning music fast and don't need help, and 2. I know literally everything outside of show music, like fundamentals, non-competitive music, and really know and can play just about everything the show writers could throw at me
So it really isn't important for my musical advancement but I still have to do it, which is bullshit

Well I both can't and don't want to
I'm the pianist in our front ensemble, and I'm the only one who can play that part
I'm also very likely to get a bassoon solo, and the only other person in the entire district, whether highschool or not (he's going into 7th grade), who can play bassoon, just started about four months ago
So yeah i can't, and I don't want to
