Lanc is overrated, btw the last of Britain’s 3 engined heavy’s to see combat wasn’t the lanc or even the Halifax, 6 freight converted short Stirling planes with rudimentary bomb racks fitted under the wings saw minimal service in the Egypt-Israel war of 1948

Boeing B-29 superfortress, consolidated B-32 dominator, heinkell He-177 greif, consolidated PB4Y privateer, and while it’s internal capacity was not nearly as large as the lanc’s, it could carry 2 tall boys on the wings, and did on many separate occasions. Could the Lancaster carry 2 grand slams strapped under the fuselage? Well the B-29 and B-32 could. Need I elaborate further?
