Weird. I looked at one for a long time in bedrock, and it didn't care even though it was two blocks away. Endermen in Java edition occasionally attack me even when I look at them for only one quarter of a second.

There must have been a bug with the bedrock one. Usually on both versions if you look at them even a for a split second they get angry.
