Thratein sounds like a ver infectious disease that bloats your veins. Maybe a microsized alien that Inflates your red blood cells?

or maybe that disease can be named after the alien species that discovered the disease?

Or it could just be tiny micro organisms that evolved into what I said. And they take over the body once the brain loses blood flow
