Just a question

Just a question | Curious; How do we know that Jesus was white? Since he was Jewish, he was likely Middle Eastern, but all the images depicted of him show that he is white. Why is this? | image tagged in gnib's announcement template | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Nobody ever said he was white. Being Israeli he probably had darker skin than typically depicted

For better or for worse, people ordinarily depict Jesus as being the color of their own population. In Western iconography, Jesus is typically white because the population is white, but in Ethiopian Orthodox iconography, Jesus is typically black because the population is black. People tend to care more about depicting Jesus as relatable than depicting him accurately.

He's depicted as white because he was based on the looks of an English kind, I believe. It was so popularized, that this is just how we as a society imagine him to look. And, Rennesaince art was mostly created by white people.
