St. Anger is just ok. To me, it's too average. Sure, the snare is shit and the lack of solos made it a bit boring. But they do contribute the "anger" in St. Anger. Plus, the guitar and bass tones are brutal and very menancing and all of the riffs still scream "METALLICA", even in the band's dark ages. And the do emulate bands like Alice In Chains well done.
Lulu is just weird shit. I like the experimental side, buuuuuut aside from Brandenburg Gate, Iced Honey and so-bad-it's-good The View, it doesn't feel like Metallica. Don't get me wrong, I love experimental thrash metal and I'm sure they did this album because they want to expand, but Metallica totally burnt it on this one, hell, even St. Anger gets it right with the "Metallica in its rawest form".
