Born in 1942, Voytek was a cub when he was taken in by Polish soldiers. This Syrian bear helped the solder bear all of the trouble and trauma. The bear also helped in the battle of Monte Cassino, he gave shells to the soldiers and moved crates. After the war, the bear was moved to the Edinburgh zoo in Scotland. The soldiers came to visit, they jumped the fence and played with Voytek. Sadly the Bear died on December 2, 1963. He became a national hero and is now called "The bear who Fought for Poland"
