Jack Marston is a fictional character in the video game Red Dead Redemption and its sequel Red Dead Redemption 2. He is the son of the game's main protagonist, John Marston, and his wife Abigail. In the first game, Jack is a young boy who is kidnapped by the game's antagonist, Dutch van der Linde, and held for ransom. John Marston rescues him and the family reunites.
In Red Dead Redemption 2, which is a prequel to the first game, Jack is shown as a much younger child. The game follows the story of Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang who serves as a surrogate older brother to Jack. When the gang is forced to flee from law enforcement, Arthur helps protect and care for Jack and the rest of the gang's members.
Throughout both games, Jack is depicted as a quiet and sensitive child who loves reading and drawing. In the epilogue of Red Dead Redemption, set several years after the events of the main game, Jack has grown into a young man and follows in his father's footsteps as a gunslinger. However, he is haunted by his father's violent past and struggles to reconcile his desire for revenge with his desire for a peaceful life.
