I just try to picture an average jewish man from 2,000 years ago, so usually a beard of some kind. ((currently wondering at what point razors were invented)

The safety razors we see today are a relatively recent invention, but people have been shaving with knives of some form or another for thousands of years. We know this because certain people at certain times in the Old Testament were commanded to shave their entire bodies.

Hmm. It never does say in the Bible whether he had a beard. For all we know Jesus was clean shaven.

Probably. I think it would’ve been a lot of trouble to try to “shave” back then.
