A keyboardist is familiar with both the key aspects, and the electronic aspect, thus they can play piano, whereas a pianist is only familiar with the key aspects, and couldn't play the electronic part

A keyboardist is playing Keyboard because they can't afford a piano. Pianos are different then keyboards, as they are more natural sounding and played different.
