????: *the larger leafwing was getting tired of the conversation* it’s probably to deter Queen Wasp from using him to spy on us. She’ll still probably be able to hear us, it she won’t know where she’ll be going.

*now their all standing in the cave entrance. The Hivewing opens his eyes, he has to squint in the sunlight for a moment to let his eyes adjust*

*Swallowtail nods. He lifts off as soon as his eyes adjust to the light. He’s quicker than he looks.*

????: skipper, can I talk to you for a second?

*the silkwing spoke again*

????: why are you being so hard on Swallowtail and fighting with him on everything?

Skipper: I’m.. not sure really, Rose. I think I’m just used to the hivewings treating me terribly.. so much that I tried to have this as a little revenge..

Rose: that poor dragonet is already scared out of his mind. He’s almost been killed in battle, he risked running from the hives only to be beaten and left for dead by his own tribe. More than that he wants to help us.

Skipper: I know..

Rose: then try being nicer to him. I don’t want you too fighting.

Skipper: what exactly is a Nightwing?

*Rose is looking in your general direction, if you aren’t hidden, she spots you because she’s used to the caves. In the light you can see she has some scars, likely from fighting other dragons in the past. She tries not to look threatening.*

Skipper: so you’re a Hivewing?

Rose: if they were, they normally would have attempted to kill me. That and we would see their bright yellow/orange scales. So no. I think I see green eyes and purplish scales… *she shrugs*

Moonlight: What's a hivewing?

Rose: tell us what a Nightwing is first. Without using Clearsight as an example.

Moonlight: One of the 7 tribes of Pyrriha, one with dark scales ranging from pure black to some shades of blue and green, blue, or purple eyes. Some nights have mindreading or futuresight, i happen to have both. A hyrbid could have other powers, like how i have fireproof scales, and nightwings live on a peninsula

Rose: I’m sure lucky we aren’t fighting you. But we are currently in the middle of hiding from a dragon that wants to murder my whole tribe who happens to be one of Clearsight’s descendants.

Skipper: hivewings usually have yellow, gold, or orange scales mixed with black ones. Queen Wasp is able to control all of them with her mind.

*a lion was dropped inside the cave on the ledge*

Swallowtail: guys did it land in the cave? *outside, he must have had his blindfold on, in fact, you saw it. He was grabbing onto the ledge of the cave facing you*

Skipper: yeah!

Swallowtail: I’ll see if I can find some more. I also have a few seeds, maybe rose could use her leaf speak to—

Rose: the silkwings can learn to eat meat. *she wasn’t in the mood to talk about that right now*

Swallowtail: oh well, just in case then, I have them. Real pain to steal from one of the greenhouses right now. I’ll be right back to see if I can find something else.

Rose: that was nice of him to think about you guys though.

Skipper: the more food we have, the better. Anyways, Hivewings also usually have stingers that can paralyze dragons. If you want to meet a Hivewing that doesn’t like what Queen Wasp has been doing, good luck. There’s lady Jewel but that’s pretty much it. The rest are controlled through the mind control at birth or the silkwings through propaganda.

Skipper: could you help us? We’re afraid of what might happen if Queen Wasp finds us here. She figured out how to control other tribes with the mind control.

Moonlight: alright, i will

Rose: I’m not sure what’s going on at the surface, I’ve been lost down here for nearly four years. Swallowtail and Skipper here probably know more than I do. Wasp controlling other tribes is knew to me too. Before I was going to say we need an army capable of taking on the hivewings.. but now I’m not so sure.

Skipper: there has to be something to weaken them. Maybe burning the greenhouses..

Rose: that would only hurt the silkwings, and you all are innocent.

Skipper: shouldn’t we at least burn down the greenhouse with that weird plant you both were talking about?

Rose: she might have emergency stores elsewhere, and it won’t help the dragons already under the mind control.

Moon: what about just killing wasp herself? I've been through plenty of fights and been burnt to a crisp twice

Rose: yeah, you see my tribe tried that 50 years ago and our numbers became so thin we had to hide in the jungle or become extinct. We tried fighting openly again just now apparently and it resulted in half my tribe somehow falling under control of Queen Wasp’s mind control. I always miss when something crazy happens.

Skipper you missed the book of Clearsight being stolen too.

Rose: Always wanted to read that myself. I guess I missed that too. And also, how are you still here if you were burnt to a crisp? How badly? Are you still injured?

Moonlight: i have fire *shows a small stream of fire*

Skipper: … could you create an army and help us fight? An allied counterattack might work.

Swallowtail: no it won’t.

*The Hivewing came back. Two dead Zebra’s were dragged into the cave. After that, he dragged the lion further back into the cave with the Zebra’s. He quickly put on his blindfold*

Skipper: well why not then?

Swallowtail: if Queen Wasp find more of the original “breath of evil” plant, she’ll just have another full army to add to her ranks involuntarily. She has the leafwings to produce the original root for her under her control. Assuming that’s where her power comes from. Our best bet is to try to uproot all of the original “Breath of Evil” plants before they start harvesting it. The problem with that is doing it safely.

Skipper: … that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

Swallowtail: my study backs it up.

Rose: I agree with Swallowtail.

Skipper: what?!

Rose: [thinking: I can’t tell him the truth. Either of them.] we can’t lose another army to Wasp. If she can make two more tribes fall under her mind control, she’s probably going to attempt it again. I know it’s weird we’re going after the “Breath of Evil” first, but Swallowtail might be right. First we take out the way she can use her mind control on other dragons, then we crush her in battle.

Moonlight: am k the only dragon here with pure fire?

Skipper: erm.. there was that flamesilk.. he’s now under Queen Wasp’s control as far as I know. Never saw him after he tried burning the breath of evil.

Swallowtail; burning the breath of evil is hazardous and any organism that breaths in the smoke will become infected, and consequentially fall under Queen Wasp’s mind control. I can’t help but feel there’s something missing though.

Moonlight: tried real fire yet? Or drowning it?

Rose: [I might be able to manipulate the plant into providing a cure for the mind control instead of causing it, or another plant as well…]

Swallowtail: flamesilk can start massive fires if you aren’t careful. A single strand is enough to create a large fire, given that the strand hasn’t burnt out yet. It can cause more burns due to it sticking to the target, a real nightmare for the unfortunate victim. It’s very painful, and I’d wager It’s more painful than dragon Fire considering to remove it you have to remove the silk itself, burning your own talons, or jumping into water. Wasp controls those rare dragons by keeping them in a small box in the capital producing those little lamps that the schools and homes have.

Skipper: you’re telling me that those lamps are made by enslaved flamesilks? I should have known that’s what happened.

Swallowtail: yes, and it’s easy for Wasp to do it since most silkwings now have been blindly trusting her, and most hivewings don’t have a choice whether or not to trust her. She’s been keeping your best weapon against her in some hidden room or something. Back to the tropic of the plant.. I don’t think drowning it has been tried. Not that we would be able to get enough water to do so now without being caught. The Jungle could still be on fire as well.

Rose: maybe the ocean could provide it.

Swallowtail: but.. OH THATS BRILLIANT!

Rose: huh?

Swallowtail: salt will change the composition of the soil and makes it hard for certain plants to grow. Salt water is a viable option for drowning the plant since it would have to rapidly adapt to intake salt water and then normal water again, it might not adapt fast enough!

Moonlight: am i the only dragon who has breathable fire? Like, on the whole continent?

Rose: yep.

Swallowtail: no one here can breath fire.

Skipper; we’re the only three tribes here.

Moonlight: you have a secret weapon now

Swallowtail: not like we can use it. If we burn the breath of evil and you breathe in the smoke, you’ll be infected and under queen wasp’s mind control.

Skipper: we could burn down one of the hives..

Swallowtail: I feel like that would make the situation worse and hurt innocent dragons still trapped in them.

Moonlight: i can hold my breath for almost an hour

Swallowtale: [A hybrid like Autumn! Maybe.. stay focused] how could you hold your breath and breathe fire at the same time? And if you hit the plant and infect other dragons?

Rose: [holding your breath for an hour.. by Pantala that would be useful right about now]

Skipper: how can you hold your breath for an hour?

Moonlight: gift from my father, a gift of being a hyrbid.

Rose: I guess that makes sense.. where are you from?

Moonlight: Pyrriha

*Swallowtail covered his ears so he didn’t hear before you answered*

Skipper: is that across the ocean?

Rose: probably.

Moonlight: *nods*

Skipper: well that answer’s that. Hey it’s ok you can open your ears now. *nudging Swallowtail*

*Swallowtail stops covering his ears*

Rose: you think Wasp heard any of that?

Swallowtail: hopefully not, I didn’t feel her mind’s presence again. Trust me, you’ll know when she’s here.

Moonlight: i think you've got yourselves a powerful ally

Rose: [but is this enough..? She’s only going to be powerful if we come up with a good plan, not rush into a hive and get captured immediately] thanks for helping use if you want to. Now we just need a plan.

Skipper: we’ll finally be able to take the fight to them!

Swallowtail: that’s not the best course of action, if we just walk into a hive, we’re probably going to be captured and then Queen Wasp will make you fall under her control.

Moonlight: i can see them from behind me, i've got mind reading and future sight

Rose: [that can’t be right.. then again, there was Clearsight…]

Skipper: that will be a big help. We can sneak in, cause a little chaos, and sneak out.

Swallowtail: if someone see’s us, we’ll be surrounded in seconds, even with mind reading and foresight. We need to come up with a plan if we’re going to sneak into a hive and steal something,

Swallowtail: even with that, we’ll probably be surrounded and infected. I already am so all she has to do is make sure I won’t resist the mind control anymore.

Swallowtail: *shaking his head* if we enter the hives we’ll need to do it stealthily, and you can’t tell me when. You can’t even tell me you’re going. All I’m good for is getting food, and even then it’s dangerous since she can just send a detachment to track me if she doesn’t do it herself. I may have nearly total control over my body still, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t listening or watching.

Skipper: you might be right actually..

Moonlight: shadows are pretty good for helping *blends in a shadow*

Skipper: … Swallowtail, are you sure hivewings are all descendants of Clearsight?

Swallowtail: Supposedly our black scales came from her.

Moonlight: Black scales have to come from NightWings, we're the only tribe to have them on Pyrriha

Swallowtail: I guess then we didn’t inherit any of your tribe’s powers then.

Skipper: that might have been for the best in this case.

Swallowtail: but we could have been able to predict Queen Wasp and stop her before she even took power.

Rose: or used those same powers to see our troop movements and kill as many of us as you could, like Queen Wasp had said was predicted in the book of Clearsight according to Skipper, but at a much greater scale. It’s a double-edged sword that could be used to create lasting peace or destructive wars.

Moonlight: clearsight hatched over 2000 yesrs ago, she couldnt see that far in the future, she natched under 1 moon

Skipper: … are your powers related to the moons somehow?

Moonlight: you got it! One full moon is mindreading or futuresight, two full moons is both, thrice moonborn dragonets have oth, but stronger

Rose: hm.. interesting. I wonder why the hivewings don’t have them if they’re all a little Nightwing.. that’s what you called yourself, right?

Moonlight: correct, and i guess direct nightwings or hybrids can have the mindreading and futuresight

Swallowtail: I guess we’re already past the point of evolving to get those powers now.. it’s thousands of years later than when Clearsight existed supposedly. Even if one of us did have them, Wasp would have be controlled for the rest of their life if she knew.

Rose: so why don’t you guys have them then? It’s probably better that you don’t have mind reading or foresight right now anyways.

*Swallowtail shrugs*

Moonlight: any and all fire doesnt work on me, y'all've got yourselves a powerful ally

Swallowtail: well.. I don’t think any of the tribes here are going to start fires unless it’s a silkwing flamesilk.

Skipper: well, one clearly started one above us, so maybe it will be very useful.

Moonlight: maybe

Rose: we’re happy to have your help. Now we just need a plan. A dragon that can see the future will help us slip by their patrols.

Moonlight: if fire’s required ever, too, I can help with that

Rose: I have a few ideas, on what we could do with that. Maybe something as a nice distraction to slip into the hives and steal stuff. But I’m not sure if that would work.

Moonlight: it might

Swallowtail: we might end up burning the hive down or you could be caught though.

Moonlight: I’ve been imprisoned before I’ll be fine

Swallowtail: that’s the least of our concerns. We could always break you out, but queen wasp will try to infect you. If she does, we can’t help you.

Moonlight: I have claws, powers, and fire

Rose: and Wasp will control those if you get infected. Right now all we can do is lie low and steal supplies when we can.

Pipevine: yeah, that would pretty much give her a wider range of abilities she now has if what you say is true about the future sight thing. Instead she could predict where we are and capture us and everyone else immediately.

Swallowtail: let’s wait it out. We’ll think of something that puts us at minimal risk.

Moonlight: surprise attacks nobody can predict, perhaps?

Rose: we could try. It might work out in our favor if we’re able to capture supplies.

Swallowtail: I think Wasp’s warfare is going to switch to more swarm like tactics, overwhelming the enemy with large numbers no matter how many troops she loses. She already didn’t seem to care for them. It might be a problem if we end up getting caught or stuck somewhere. We’ll need to be cautious of where and how we strike.

Pipevine: it’s probably possible. We could pull it off, we’re such a small group that’s we could escape without them noticing much.

Moonlight: my scales would probably ruin most chance of escape with the dark shades and bronze

Rose: then maybe we should lie low for now. I can go find one of the other groups that haven’t been affected by Wasp’s mind control yet. We might get support for a mission, but this may come with the difficulty of less stealth capabilities.

Moonlight: yea

Swallowtail: … I just forgot, Queen Wasp can control me! Oh no.. *he started to panic, he ran into the cave wall on accident*

Moonlight: just wondering, how does the mind control work?

Swallowtail: that’s the thing. I don’t actually know. All I have is a theory. I think it has something to do with the breath of evil plant but I have no idea why it didn’t affect Wasp, why did it help her?

Moonlight: maybe she took it first, giving her the power?
