Mould World
Prologue
After The Flash 889 PF/2996 AD

It is fairly common knowledge that the world ended 899 years ago in nuclear war. Nobody is entirely sure in this day and age exactly what happened, that’s what I am trying to find out, but we’ll get to that later. What we do know, or think that we know, is that in less than a year after the first missile landed on Moscow, that the combined effects of 25000 megatons worth of nuclear weapons being dropped on every major city in the world, the fallout that followed and the catastrophic global cooling that had been going on for the last 50 years, caused the deaths of 9.7 billion people (99.99% of the current population) The remaining humans disappeared underground, into bunkers where we lived for centuries.
It took a couple hundred years for the radiation to reach survivable levels and another hundred for the sub-zero temperatures of the nuclear winter to reach barely survivable levels, finally people rose from their underground cities, (some of which had thrived, other barely survived, or died..) and into the frozen rubble of the world above, they created colonies, they grew in the frozen world, the human population reached approximately 3 million for the first time in three centuries, and then it was discovered that other humans had survived on the surface, sea-faring people, which in the time other humans had been living in little bunkers in groups of a few hundred, these sea people had become one huge intertwined culture. Living on boats and constructing huge artificial islands. The sea people and land people got along quite well, the sea people helped the land people flourish again and humanity truly seemed to be on the long path to recovery. And then it all went wrong again.
Nobody knows exactly how the 100 years of war started, or why, but the few new nations that had formed (Brazarcta, Eauria and Atlatan, among smaller ones) wiped each other off the face of the earth as humanity had done centuries before, no nukes were launched, this war was fought with bows and arrows, with swords. In the end, tens of thousands were dead, and humanity became isolated colonies again, and this is how it’s been here, at my home, in Oviedo, Northern Spain, for centuries, just a small colony of survivors, under 2 thousand call this place home, and this is the place where I will begin my story, of how life is in this strange, strange world…
