I'm glad you considered the M&P 15-22 a training weapon, because in reality, that's all it is.

I have a 22 lr conversion upper for my AR platform & it's a lot of fun. But 22 LR is horribly unreliable and underpowered for zombies.
22lr out of a 16 in barrel has approximately 10% of the power of the average 556 NATO cartridge & 556 isn't exactly a high powered elk cartridge or something...

22 is reliable with old bolt actions and that’s kinda all

22 lr is unreliable in many semi-autos, due in no small part wildly variable velocities out of bulk box 22 lr. & inherent dirty powder in rim fire cartridges.
