Trans Flag

Trans Flag | Hi, I've recently learned about how many anti-trans bills are being discussed and passed in the USA. I've been trying to learn how to be a better ally as a result of it. If you are trans/ nonbinary/gender non conforming
or know a lot about the topic could you tell me some things I could do to be a better ally. I would really appreciate your input. | image tagged in trans flag | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

yeah, the USA sucks.
But:
* don't tell everybody that your friend is trans if they're not ready yet
* ask pronouns immediately, and be willing to use new names and pronouns if they want to.
* showing that you really support them and helping them through dysphoria can mean a lot more than you can imagine
* report bullying, BUT never give the person you're reporting to your name, or your friend's name in order to prevent them saying their name or yours and making everything really bad
* overall, just try to be nice about the whole thing and help them if they need help :)))

Ok by immediately like when you find out they are trans or like the second you meet them?

It's usually once you meet a new person for the first time good to ask for pronouns (and names of course), and it's especially good to ask for if there's new names or new pronouns after they tell you their trans and you told them that you accept them :)
(By the way, are you asking this because you have a trans friend or just for future reference? Just curious)

I'm asking because, well I know I should ask for pronouns but because they're is a wide veil of transphobia at my school I would prefer to refer to them as they/ them until I get close enough to them to figure it out. Is that ok?

100%! They/them is universally used to use when you don't know somebody's pronouns but want to go safe. ( even transphobes do it without even thinking lol)
I'm sorry your school is a lot of transphobia though :(

I wish I didn't live in the stupid USA, I really hate all the laws they pass

To be a better ally, refer to Ace-The-Kirbo-Loving-Artist's comment

Man, I'm real sorry. I'm not trans but I really hate it when people are treated worse for something that doesn't even affect them
