(also bar code on face is from pre apocalypse, the world was going to crap, and the government decided they wanted to keep track of everyone. based off of book The Bar Code Prophecy)

(The voice sounds like Jex. But Jex malfunctioned 7 months ago, so it must be prerecorded.)
Jex: Hello, valued patron! You and two friends of your choice have been chosen to be contestants on [[CORY'S]] Questions! Get two friends of your choice and head to the local TV studio.

i think to myself [cory? i haven't heard from him in ages!] i call a friend of mine and invite her to the show
(name:mask pronouns:she/they she is a snake/human that can produce toxic gas, but they can't control their power yet, so this doesn't really apply to the story lmao)

Jex: Once you've got your two friends, go to the local TV studio!

(can i do it with 1 cuz kathy has no friends after like all of them died)

(yeah sure)

kathy and mask go to the place

(The gameshow set is empty and abandoned.)

Kathy: "maybe we should go..."
Mask: "oh come on! when do you get a chance to screw around in an abondoned studio?! party pooper"
Kathy: "never, i would like to keep it that way. im gonna poop on this party and LEAVE"
Mask knocks Kathy off her feet and flips her onto their tail. Mask begins to slither into the studio, Kathy on her back/tail.

(There's a note on the floor.)

Kathy: "hey wait stop, something's on the ground"
Mask slows. Kathy picks the note up and reads it.
Mask: "well come on then, what does it say?"

Note: If you're here, I'm sure you're looking for me. I'm in the basement, come see me there. I'm not sorry.

(took me a sec to figure out wut u were talkin bout)
Kathy: *reads note out to mask*
Mask: "well come on then, lets go!"
Kathy: "d'ya think it's, idk, a TRAP? MAYBE?"
Mask: "nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
Kathy hops on Mask's tail, rolling her eyes. Mask begins slithering into the darkness.
Mask: *stops* "wait where's the basement?"

(There's an elevator nearby.)

mask goes to the elevator after kathy points it out. (soz i just didnt want it to be all like "oh yea they just teleported to the basement lololol")

(The only other working button on the elevator is the Basement one.)

after mask has pressed all the buttons- much to kathy's disapproval- they are on their way to the basement.

(Eventually, they reach the basement.)

they exit the elevator.

(There's a long, dark hallway.)

Kathy: "yea, nope, im outa here."
Mask: "how the elevator's broken remember?"
Kathy: [several swears]
Mask: "wow language, also if ur so creeped out maybe dont YELL DONT THE SPOOPY HALLWAY?! ever think of that?"
Kathy: "lets just go"
they begin to make their way down the hallway

kathy: "what... happened to you..."
mask: "yo i think his eye is infected or smthn"

Cory: DON'T YOU WANT TO [[Play my game]]?!

kathy: "what exactly does this game entail?"
mask: "seriously wtf is up with ur eye bro"

Cory: OH, AT THE [[Bottom line]], IT'S JUST A SIMPLE [[Number]] GAME!

kathy: "sure... i guess. i mean we're kinda stuck down here with literally nothing else to do"
mask: "so we're just gonna ignore the eye. cool."

Cory: BRING ME [[Three]] COLORED [[Disc]] FROM THE STUDIO, AND THEN [[We'll talk]]!!

kathy: "ummm..... the elevator's not really working right now so... how?"
mask: "oh wait! i have an idea, but ur gonna have to rust me alot."
kathy: "fine."
mask: "wel that was easy.."
mask gets kathy onto their tail, and slithers toward the elevator. once the two get there, mask enters the elevator, pulling a swiss army knife out of her mask. they cut open the top of the elevator with a file, and she hops on top. mask begins slithering upwards with kathy holding on tight to her back. they eventually reach the studio.

(At the end of a hallway is... a prison cell? It's too dark to see inside.)

mask bangs on the cage: "wassup B-TCH! yo anyone in there?!"
kathy: *whispering* "WTF DUDE. STOPPPPPPPPP."
maks: *NOT whispering* "aww c'mon mannnnn i've always wanted to do thatttttttttt."
kathy facepalms: *still whispering* "you're SO lucky i have -5 depth perception or i'd smack the goofy out ya right now."

(Hands grab the bars from inside.)

Kathy screams. Mask touches the knuckels: "eww wtf dindt ask for a JUMPSCARE today but ok pop off queen i guess"

(The caged person speaks. It's... Cory?! He sounds completely unhinged.)
Cory: IT LOOKS LIKE [[Three]] NEW CONTESTANTS HAVE COME TO PLAY THE [[Questions]] GAME!

mask slithers back, wiping their hand on her shirt: *quietly and disgustedly* "ya know how i said 'eww wtf' earlier? EW. WTF."
kathy swallows down some bile and musters up some courage: "c-cory? i-....is that... you?"

Cory: YES, [[It's-a me!]] HOW DID YA KNOW?!

kathy: "i mean like i heard ur voice ig.... why r u down here, and not up in the studio?"
mask: "also didnt you say three new contestants? there's only two of us..."

Cory: I AM BUT A [[Showman]]. AN [[Artisan]] OF MINDLESS ENTERTAINMENT. IMPRISONED FOR HAVING FAR TOO MUCH FUN!!

kathy: "who imprisoned you?"

Cory: [[The Police]]

(ok so like, is cory a robot or smthn? wuts with the [[ before some words?)
kathy: "what exactly did you mean by 'imprisoned for having far too much fun'?"
mask: "hey imma go try the elevator...... im getting creeped out"
kathy: "dont you dare leave down here alone"

(when he speaks [[in brackets]], the words in the brackets are clips from other media of people saying those words. he's not a robot btw)
Cory: THE [[Questions]] GAME, YOU SEE! I ADDED MY OWN [[Flair]] TO THE RULES! ALL MY CONTESTANTS [[Had so much fun, they died]]!!
(and also he spoke normally before all this happened)

kathy: "wtf....."
mask: "what... what are you talking about?"
mask is looking seriously creeped out at this point.

(Cory lets out an insane, loud cackle.)
Cory: THEY COULD NOT HANDLE THE [[Power]] OF [[Saladson]]!!!

kathy: *quietly* "who did this to you"
mask doesn't hear her: "ok what the the actual f-ck"

Cory: AHAHAHAHAH!! [[No one on this planet]] DID THIS TO ME! I DID THIS TO MYSELF!!

kathy: "mask do you have a light?"
mask: "yea gimme a sec"
mask literally pulls a box of matches out of her mask. (she uses her mask like a VERY SMALL backpack)

kathy lights the match and points it at cory's general direction

(Cory is there, standing right behind the bars.)

(There's a red disc on the stage.)

kathy walks over and picks it up. mask has already begun ransacking the place. kathy rolls her eyes and joins in the look for the other two disks.

(There's a blue disc under the seat rows.)

mask picks it up: "kathy look i found one :D"
kathy: "cool, there's one left then..."

(There's a green disc hanging from the ceiling. It's very, very high up.)

kathy: "well how tf are we supposed to get that?!"
mask: "i have an idea"
mask grabs a nearby rope thats there cuz its a studio, and whips it up at the disk. the disk falls to the ground and cracks because physics.
kathy: "well that worked"
mask: "it got it down, didn't it?"
kathy: "lets just bring it to him anyway..."
they go back down the elevator shaft and return to the cage.
kathy: "here's your disks."
she reaches her hand through the bars, holding out the disks to him.
kathy: "take em"

Cory: HOLY [[Macaroni]]!! YOU GUYS ACTUALLY [[Objective Complete]]?!

kathy flips her hand to the side dropping all the discs on the ground and pulls her hand out of the bars. the discs clatter to the ground, the green disc getting futher damaged.
mask: "why wouldnt we have been able to complete the 'objective'? what? d'ya we're stupid or smthn?"

Cory: THE AUDIENCE! THE CAMERAMEN...! HOW DID YOU [[Avoid being seen]]?!

kathy: "oh.... he doesn't know...."
mask: "umm.. cory.. there's uh.... no one up there..."

(Cory's red eye gets shadowed, and his insane smile fades.)
Cory: ...How long have I been down here?

kathy: *exhales audibly* "idk like...... 7 months ish, give or take a little?"
mask: "seriously what in all that is good and snakey is up with the EYE?!"

Cory: ...7... months...?

kathy: "yup. question, why did they lock you up down here, and not in prison?"

(Cory returns to his usual insane appearance.)
Cory: IT MATTERS NOT! [[Time, like hope, is an illusion.]]

kathy: "dang thats dark."
mask: "WHAT IS UP WITH HIS EYE???"

Cory: I NEED YET ANOTHER [[Favor]] FROM YOU [[Scamps]]!!

kathy: "what do you need."
mask: *pouting cuz ignored*

(Cory grabs the colored discs off of the floor and hands them to Kathy.)
Cory: [[Apply directly to the forehead]] THESE INTO THAT [[Panel on the wall]]!

kathy takes the disk: "one of them's sorta broken."

Cory: [[Matters not]]!! IT'LL STILL [[Work]]!!

kathy does the thing.
