The right to bear arms shall not be infringed... Except to those who will never get to use that right as the rights of others supercede theirs. I don't want to put weapons in the hands of children. But the GOP certainly do. | image tagged in black background | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

I don’t want to see any of the amendments in the constitution overturned by the government but maybe they don’t have to be? You can still own a gun for protection as long as you keep it secure and out of children’s reach. You know, like a responsible gun owner and if you’re licensed to conceal or open carry then keep it on you when you’re not home.

Agreed 100%, except obviously gun enthusiasts are not doing the responsible thing and ruining it for the rest of us. So, what laws can we implement that ensure our access while satisfying the the abolitionists that we are making *some* effort to make a difference? We have over 400 million guns in this country. Well over enough for every man, woman, and child. It seems to me, that if someone wants to get a gun, they can find one. If you want to use it for criminal reasons while you don't have access to it, obviously, social engineering can take place so that you might get one. This brings us back to the responsibility of the gun owner.

How many mass shootings have occurred because the weapon was acquired through a black market contact?

Sorry, I need to restate the question to re-establish the connection of context to the image...

How many children who've gone on school/mass shootings acquired the gun through a black market contact (To be clear, a street arms dealer; one who sells guns illegally) How often does this happen compared to acquiring it legally at 18, or because of a relative?

With context, I’m not sure but again it’s one too many if they’re able to get their hands on a gun illegally. I’m sorry if my answers aren’t as satisfactory or helpful though.

I'm very specific as too much is left to ambiguity in politics and obfuscation.

- U.S. Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) :

76% of the time, firearms used in mass shootings are obtained from the student’s home, a relative or a friend’s home. The study is based on 41 incidents of targeted school violence that occurred in schools from K-12 from 2008 to 2017.

So, black market acquisitions occur less than 24% of the time.

Imagine, if we had guns locked away properly... Perhaps at a neighborhood district armory, 30 of those events would've never happened...
