So I was marching and we were doing our parade tune, which was the "Gonna Fly Now" theme from Rocky.
We had just got to a part where there's a split between the front and back lines of cymbals, and since I was in the front line, I was supposed to be resting here, but because of this dude I forgot
The reporter, who I think was the locally famous newscaster Steve Raleigh, walked up to me and said "let me take your job for a minute" and since I was playing and we weren't in our cadence which was pretty simple, I said "nope can't do that." When he said that one of the band parents said that he could, I just said "nope not doing that"
And since he had a cameraman with him, there was a pretty good chance that I'd you live in the area and we're watching the parade at the time, you would've seen me really close up

But the best part was that I kept a straight face, didn't fall out of step, didn't lose where I was, and didn't change my position relative to the rest of cymbals line

That must have been embarrassing for him lol

He does it every year, last year he did it to a different cymbal player who just ignored him
