Please let me know, and be honest

So a little background for this
In drumline, I'm the only cymbal player who's in the wind ensemble, and everyone else is in symphonic band, so we don't rehearse together in school. Apparently, cymbal line decided they're weak little babies and can't hold there arms in a position that's almost resting for forty five minutes in our parade tomorrow. They made a change to the music, most of which I WROTE, without talking to me or asking me if what I thought about this.
My section leader tried to make me do this change, which I'm refusing to do, and have even threatened refusing to march in our parade if I'm forced to play the change.
I talked to the drumline director about it, and were going to change it so that people aren't playing for too long and we can still play the part the music that I wrote.
I'm just not sure if my reaction was dickish or not, or if I'm in the right, since they did change the music I wrote without talking to me first

I bet they were bluffing when they said "we wont march if you don't change the music"

No they didn't say that, they claimed that they couldn't hold their arms up for long enough

And the stuff they would be playing takes almost no effort to do, the position for that particular type of hit is almost in resting position

I don't think you were wrong in the part where you talked to the band director, but I think you went a bit far to say you wouldn't march in the parade. Then again, I'd do the exact same thing lmao

I should've worded that better, I meant that I threatened to refuse to march in the parade
