Christopher didn't get the kid he wanted (he got Cory instead of whatever he expected) and went from short-tempered to constantly insane
this is a depiction of a few weeks before Cory ran away from home
those little ghosts are culminations of Cory's doubt and anxiety, laughing at him as he's being yelled at
