WHY IS DARK SPELLED WITH A K AND NOT A C?

I need to know why is dark spelled with a k and not a c! because you can't c in the dark! because you can't c in the dark! The spelling of "dark" with a "k" instead of a "c" is simply a matter of etymology and historical evolution of the English language.
