This is true but also false, Rocky retired each film, but that was because he didn’t really care about the rematch in the second film, he had made his money and was ready to settle down with his wife and kid, the third film has him ready to retire after becoming world champ, but then fights one last time then retires. In the fourth he retires cause Apollo died, and then is forced to retire due to brain damage

Also punch out is a game, and technically if your skill is high enough you could technically dodge each punch never getting hit, whereas Rocky goes rounds of just getting punched over and over again

One last thing Rocky is a drama series and that sort of thing creates drama for the films.
