So yeah, things come, things go, and I think the legacy of me and imgflip is long over, and I know imgflip will never be able to reach their golden age in active users unless they get their act together. Sure, the meme generator is used often by a lot of people, and yeah, famous people often visit imgflip to look at memes occasionally, so it won’t close down or die anytime soon. But for the community support, they do a pretty bad job at managing, since there’s literally people who are 9 years old roaming the website, and there are users who are blatantly underaged by a few years, and the community/global mods do nothing about it. And these kids can literally go around crying about how it’s okay to be underaged, but a reply to those comments along something as simple as “leave this website bozo, you’re too young to be here” will get you comment timered. (Which literally happened once a while ago)
And despite all these kids and stuff roaming around, they can still easily access pornographic material with ease if they find out how to, and porn is known to cause brain damage. So a child viewing porn while their brain is still growing can cause serious damage.
Additionally, we saw a community mod post non-explicit porn in the fun stream a little bit ago, despite the rule “imgflip is not a pornographic website.” Instead of elaborating or whatever, they just said porn is the explicit nudity, even though by many definitions and cultural definitions, it’s not alway explicit.
I don’t care if these mods post it or whatever, I care about the fact that there’s a mass amount of underaged users that might come across this stuff.
And as we saw recently, this website has become so soft that we can’t even say a swear word just as a joke to someone who flagged everyone’s comments with the slightest profanity. I’m not defending cussing at users, I’m saying if this website has become so soft that people can’t even take the slightest of a barely offensive joke, then I don’t belong here.
We might as well just remove the underaged user restriction since it does almost nothing at this point.
And the comedy on the main streams such as gaming, fun, sports, cats, etc, is too stale, unfunny, and unoriginal. Legit the best way to make points easily is to become an npc and make the most overused jokes, and often, actually original content doesn’t get to the front pages, unless it’s posted by an extremely popular user.
