Stormbringer: usually it consists of some Hivewing invasion into leafwing territory, I wonder what it was this time.

Inferna: I think that’s the first time I’ve seen genuine fear in her eyes..

“… my whole tribe was dead. And the reason was that I wasn’t there to defend them.”

Tears made her vision blurry again. She hid her face from the other dragons. She guessed it was easier to vent to Stardust since she was also a strange dragon in an unfamiliar territory.

“If they were attacked, I’m sure not all of them died. Some probably got away and escaped underground or off the continent.”

“When was that transmission or whatever you called it?”

“A couple days ago, they might be on their way here. I reanalyzed the footage last night while you were asleep. I thought I saw a seawing or two leading them away, but at that distance it’s hard to tell. They might be coming to pyhrria.”

“Wasp could have caught up in time or…”

“They could have escaped. Ivy, I’m fairly certain they did.”

“Then they would be landing on the west coast.. either desert or snow..” Still.. that was if they got off the continent and got lucky.

“They’ll be fine, I’m sure of it.”

“Thanks Stardust..” Ivy did her best to wipe the tears away from her eyes so no one saw them. She finally stood up, allowing Stardust to do the same, they both walked back towards the group.

*Mirage walked out of the cave at the same time Stardust and Ivy returned from the group*

Ivy: oh.. hey Mirage. I need to ask you a question.

Mirage: alright, shoot.

Ivy: I need you to guide me through the sand kingdom. Stardust and I think leafwings from my continent are coming here.

Mirage: … let me talk it over with everyone first. What happened, you seem a little-

Ivy: I don’t want to talk about it.

Mirage: alright then..

Inferna: you don’t need my permission to go.

Blizzard: I think it’s a good idea if you ask me, I don’t think she’s been on that side of the continent before though.

Mirage: that’s what I’m saying. Maybe we should say until we have more of us ready to go there.

Ivy: well, I’m ready, and I just need a guide. Considering Mirage is a sandwing, he would probably know the area best.

Mirage: as long as we’re not going to the scorpion den, it’s ok with me.

Seaweed- I'm always ready to do something.

Mirage: there’s not as much water as there is in other areas, just be prepared for that.

Ivy: I’m prepared for that.. I’m just not sure how to prepare for the leafwings to see me for the first time in nearly a year.

Mudslide; they’ll probably be happy to see your alright.

Ivy: I was banished from my tribe, I’m not so sure about that.

Stardust: you’ll be alright. Do you want anyone else to come with you?

Ivy: I think just mirage will be ok. We won’t have to bring as many supplies that way.

Mirage: that’s not the problem. My main concern is the water situation for you. My other concern is dragons might see you as an easy target, which we know you aren’t. I’m concerned you might get hurt.

Ivy: I’ll be fine. If I can survive dragon eating plants and giant panthers, I think I’ll be ok.

Mirage: if you say so..

Seaweed- good luck to you guys then...the water could be an issue but it can be solved easily I'm sure.

Mirage: I know a few spots and springs where water is. Besides, we can make a few water containers where we hit the river either in possibility or sanctuary.

Ivy: sounds perfect to me.

Seaweed- good plan

Stardust: are you sure you’re going to be ok?

Ivy: I don’t know how many times I have to say it, but yes. *she looked a little frustrated*

Mirage: when do you want to leave?

Ivy: as soon as possible.

Mirage: I’ll go get ready then. I can’t guarantee you’ll find who or what you’re looking for, but I can at least guide you through the kingdom. *Mirage heads back into the cave.*

Ivy: guess I’ll see you all in a few days.

Inferna: good luck then. We’ll miss you Ivy.

Ivy: I won’t need luck, I know I will succeed. But thank you.

Blizzard: be careful out there.

Seaweed- be safe out there Ivy! We will see you soon.

*Mirage came out with three bags, inside one of them were a ton of small hide containers for water. He handed one of the bags to Ivy*

Mirage: hope you’re ready to eat camels.

Ivy: as long as there isn’t anything plant related I’ll be ok.

Blizzard: if you’re hit by a sandwing’s barb, you know what to do right?

Ivy: uh… that’s where the cactus thing comes in right?

Mirage: you’ll need to apply cactus juice to the wound as soon as possible. Our venom is extremely dangerous.

Ivy: alright, I got it now.

Mirage: I’ll always have a few on me, just in case, but we’ll get more once we get to possibility or sanctuary.

Mudslide: I would make sure she remembers, just in case. I wouldn’t want to find you to buried in the sand or find out you got murdered.

Ivy: I can see why you’re all worried but this is a bit much.

Mirage: relax Mudslide, we’re not going anywhere near the den.

Inferna: if you decide to leave for Pantala, can you come get us first? I want to make sure you’re safe before flying across the ocean.

Ivy: I won’t make any promises there, but I’ll try.

*At that moment, Abyss, Misty, and Barracuda walked out of the cave*

Misty: what’s happening?

Cascade: Mirage and Ivy are heading to the sand kingdom.

Ivy: I think the rest of my tribe is coming here, and it’s most likely they’ll land either there or in the north.

Abyss: oh.. looks like I’m just in time to say goodbye.

Barracuda: just don’t get hit by a sandwing’s—

Ivy: that’s the third time someone’s mentioned the tail barb. I know!

Barracuda: alright then.

Misty: Mirage, be careful with her.

Mirage: I’ve changed since I left the scorpion den.

Misty: not by much. Good luck.

*Ivy and Mirage finally get off the ground and start heading west, Stardust also appears to be missing, Blizzard is looking around for her*

Blizzard: .. she must have went with them.

Barracuda: who?

Stormbringer: Stardust, probably to study the sandwings.

Barracuda: oh.. that strange dragon with the forked tail? The one who doesn’t talk much?

Mudslide: yeah, that dragon. It takes time for her to get used to other dragons. I can tell she’s a little anxious just by being around us.

Seaweed- yeah she gets nervous but stardust is a good dragon trust me.

Mudslide: I didn’t say she wasn’t.

Barracuda: eh..

Seaweed- true...but she is very nice and I trust her.

Barracuda: she and I probably feel the same way about each other, we don’t completely trust each other yet.

Blizzard: well, yeah, it’s understandable considering her circumstances. She was the same way with us.

Cascade: she told us we were the first dragons she’s ever met.

Seaweed- huh interesting

Mudslide: not even her own parents?

*Blizzard shrugs, Stardust was flying at a slow pace back to the cliff ledge.*

Cascade: well, I guess you could ask her yourself.

Mudslide: no, not in front of everyone. That would be embarrassing her, I know how I would react at least.

*Stardust lands on the edge*

Stardust: Mirage and Ivy said if you want to wait for them, we should head to Sanctuary. If Ivy is flying to Pantala, she’ll say goodbye to us there.

Cascade: come on guys, what are we waiting for?

Mudslide: isn’t that the place where they’re researching scavengers or something?

Stormbringer: I believe it is. *he could sense Blizzard becoming worried, but blizzard does a good job hiding it.*

*Bedrock and Coelacanth poked their heads out of the cave*

Coelacanth: what about sanctuary?

Abyss: Ivy is heading west to see if leafwing refugees from their continent are landing here. If she goes back to Pantala, she’ll meet us at Sanctuary to say goodbye.

Seaweed- oh ok...I've never been there...what's it like?

Abyss; don’t know. Isn’t that somewhere near the sandwing border?

Blizzard: it’s a relatively new town. I think it’s dedicated to the protection and research of scavengers, like Mudslide said. Hence, it’s name. Mirage will know more than me, he frequently visits the sandwing kingdom and comes back usually the next day.

Misty: so the only dragon who knows anything about this place has run off with the leafwing?

Mudslide: it was better he did that than stay behind, without a guide, Ivy would be in trouble. We might as well see the place for ourselves, though I’m not sure they would be expecting a group this large.

Seaweed- yeah true but they might make an exception. And plus scavengers are cute and small.

Blizzard: they’re cute until you realize what they can do.

Stormbringer: a couple did kill queen oasis.. we would just need to be more careful.

Inferna: Sanctuary it is then?

Stardust: if that’s where they’re expecting us to be…

Barracuda: great..

Misty: you’ll be fine.

Abyss: yeah, it could be worse.

Mudslide: I remember Mirage saying he knows a cave system near possibility we could stay at as well. If they’re close enough it should be ok.

Inferna: I have a better idea. I know a few shelters near Sanctuary.

Blizzard: .. alright then.

Seaweed- yeah lets go! I'm excited.

*Sanctuary was coming into view, Stardust dropped to the back of the group. You could see how nervous she was. Blizzard was masking her worry pretty well. Misty and Barracuda had temporarily stopped their conversation*

Inferna: we’re almost there guys.

Mudslide: such a strange place.

*Blizzard drops to the back of the group with Stardust suddenly, Stormbringer turned around in surprise and followed her, Mudslide and Inferna also turned to look and see what was going on*

Inferna: … alright, I see a nice landing spot over there. Should we approach on foot?

Stormbringer: *looking at Stardust and Blizzard* it might be better if we do that.

Barracuda: I agree.

Seaweed- agreed

*the group lands a small ways away from Sanctuary (I don’t remember how it’s described lol)*

Inferna: Blizzard, what’s wrong?

Blizzard: it’s nothing. *she hasn’t been in the sand kingdom for over two years, she’s already got a target on her head and she doesn’t know who is hunting her now*

Stormbringer: … *he looked genuinely worried for her* are you sure you don’t want talk about it?

Blizzard: .. could I have a moment to talk with Stormbringer in private?

Inferna: go ahead.

*Stormbringer and Blizzard walk away from the group for a moment*

Seaweed- hmmm...it feels good out here. *stretches wings*

Inferna: it does.

Bedrock: I still prefer the mud kingdom.

Abyss: I wonder what’s here. This is a relatively new town..

*Stardust decides to stretch as well*

“Stormbringer, I haven’t told anyone this, besides Mirage and Abyss.. but I grew up in the Scorpion Den.”

“So that’s why you have so many memories of sandwings…”

She nodded. The next part was going to be hard to explain. All of the dragon’s she’s stolen from.

“I would steal things and resell them to make extra money for my parents.. they didn’t know about it, not initially… sometimes I’d even steal food when we didn’t have much money to buy food. Sometimes I would get hired to steal specific items.. Mirage even helped me sometimes..”

“That’s why he was hesitant to explain how he knew you and lied. At least I know the reason why your so quick now.”

“You knew he.. of course you did.” She gave a weak smile, one to hide her fear of his reaction for the next part.

“There’s something else.. isn’t there?”

This was the really tough part, one she couldn’t explain well. Moreover she didn’t know how Stormbringer would react.

“One of the jobs went bad, I-I accidentally killed a dragon..”

“Ok that’s not that—“

“There’s more.. the next job I had was an assassination. I did not know the client, all I knew was they were paying a lot. I went through with it..”

She started to cry. She regretted this part of her. Stormbringer hugged her but the tears kept on flowing. All she could do was keep explaining. “I no longer remember how many dragons I’ve killed. It was definitely over 15…” At this point she was sobbing too much to talk. She buried her face into Stormbringer’s shoulder until all she could see were his scales. His slow breathing was calming her.

“It’s ok.. you’re not that dragon. You did it because you needed too. I could feel that’s not what you wanted to do, nor did you feel like you should ever do it again.”

She looked up, her tears were still in her eyes from remembering the dragons she’s killed. The image of Stormbringer looked a bit blurry but it was him. He didn’t look fazed at all. “You’re.. not angry?”

“We’re friends with a skywing soldier who’s killed more dragons than anyone else here.. of course I’m not.”

Blizzard felt confused but relieved, she thought this would go the completely other direction.

Seaweed- *begins making a giant pile of sand*

“You’re not worried about the fact I was once an assassin?”

“No, and I believe I was lucky I met you. In a couple memories it looks like you tried to turn down assassin jobs, but you were threatened.”

“Yeah, I was for a few of them. I was considering joining the outclaws so I didn’t have to take those anymore.. luckily we left the Scorpion Den. That’s when the whole family joined the army. My mother and father found out eventually, they were furious.. not an honorable icewing profession.”

Stormbringer held his wing around her in a comforting way. Blizzard slowly counted the “stars” on his wing until she stopped crying.

“You feeling better now?”

“Yeah..” The two dragons kissed. Blizzard always felt more calm around Stormbringer.

“You’re worried someone might recognize you?”

Blizzard nodded.

“We’ll help you if something happens. Come on.. we’ll be fine if we stay together.”

Blizzard: now I am.

Seaweed- I made a SANDCASTLE

Stardust: wow!

Cascade: good job.

Seaweed- thanks. so are we all ready?

*By the time the net was finished, Misty had already caught two salmon, but she doesn’t eat them*

Misty: anyone want salmon?

Barracuda: I would take some, but I’m going to wait for now.

Seaweed- I'm going to go look for fish a little farther down the river.

Misty: alright.

Barracuda: we’ll continue here.

Seaweed- alright *walks a little farther down the river*

*Misty follows you incase something happens, Abyss and Barracuda are still trying to use the net*

Seaweed- *begins catching some fish*

*Misty stays by you incase someone sneaks up*

Barracuda: I hope you guys are having more fun than I am.

Misty: we’ll see which group catches more fish.

Barracuda: great… until when?

*Misty looks at the sky. The light is quickly fading*

Misty: uh.. until you guys are ready.

Barracuda: well, I’m definitely ready to go.

*you could see Abyss’s scales flashing, then the net is lifted up from its sides, looks like they were able to catch a lot of fish*

Barracuda: I didn’t think that would work..

*Abyss pokes his head out of the water*

Abyss: ha. These scavengers are pretty smart with their exploits.

Misty: I didn’t think you’d get that many.. *the net was almost full, they had about 20 fish in there, mostly salmon and bass* I could only imagine what would happen if we had a larger net.

Abyss: and if I set it up properly. It might be because of the slight waterfall though I situated it on. Just enough that the current forced the fish into the net.

Seaweed- oh wow thats impressive!

Barracuda: I think we have enough for everyone.

Misty: we probably have too much.

Abyss: maybe we can sell some later or something.

Seaweed- yeah theres plenty of fish

Stormbringer: I’m sticking with Blizzard. I’m fine with whatever she decides to do.

Inferna: I’m staying with Mudslide. We can base the groups on these.

*The mudwing hybrids opted to stay with Mudslide as well, except for Misty, who was opting to stick with the two seawings.*

Cascade: I’ll go with Blizzard as well.

Abyss: hm.. there appears to be a group imbalance.

*Misty was hoping the seawings would join the mudwing group*

Misty: erm.. I’ll go with my siblings.

Barracuda: I guess that just leaves us to pick a group. Seaweed will be able to choose the group she wants. We can switch as needed.

Abyss: rock, parchment, scissors. How about that? Winner picks first.

Barracuda: fair enough.

Coelacanth: you two are strange dragons..

Barracuda: it’s hard not to be when we were both animuses *chuckling*.

*both of them played rock paper scissors. They tie, so they’re are about to play again but they are stopped*

Misty: just pick a group already..

*both dragons join Misty’s group, the decision on who you go with falls to you*

Seaweed- I can go with misty's group.

Misty; huh, we have enough dragons to form 2 groups..

Cascade: you could have two dragons come with us, or we could split into three groups.

Coelacanth: bedrock and I can switch groups if you want to be with Mudslide.

Seaweed- its your guys decision.

Misty: let’s create our own group. We’ll rotate between the three groups.

Barracuda; I’m fine with that.

Mudslide: you won’t hurt her, right?

Barracuda: really, after you guys helped me? No.

Mudslide: I’m just being careful, I’m worried about her.

Misty: I’ll be fine.

Mudslide: … alright.

Seaweed- sounds good to me.

Misty; alright, which group is staying here tonight?

Inferna: we could take first night if you guys want stay in the mountains.

Seaweed- I honestly don't care who goes first.

Inferna; alright.

Blizzard: we’ll stay together as one group for now. We’ll switch out groups each night. Let’s go look for a place to rest.

Seaweed- ok

Stardust: I don’t really want to..

Cascade: come on.. you need to learn to talk to other dragons..

Stardust: I don’t think starting out with a queen is going to help me.

Cascade: I came to try to get help for you, I’m sorry I made you feel unsafe or nervous.

Stardust: it’s fine.. I do need to learn, I just don’t think the best way to start is by speaking with a queen.

Seaweed- uh...yeah now that I think about it...it doesn't sound like the best idea

Stardust: I think I’d like to return to the seaside cave again.

Cascade: .. after we rest. Being I’m too tired to fly right now..

*Stardust looks at the hammocks*

Stardust: no way I’m sleeping in those. I don’t know how sturdy they are.. If someone really wanted too, they could cut it while I was sleeping and I could fall and get seriously injured..

Seaweed- you will be fine...I can stay awake if that helps.

Cascade: you have the same fear as Blizzard. Don’t worry, it’ll be alright.

Seaweed- yeah

*She decides to try it, she didn’t have a lot of enemies though.. at least not here. Maybe it would be safe for the night at least…*

Stardust: alright fine… *climbing into the hammock* … more comfortable than I thought..

Cascade: see? I’ll be right next to you if you need anything. *she climes into the next hammock over, there is one more hammock left*

Seaweed- good night stardust and you too cascade.

Cascade: goodnight..

*Stardust stayed up the latest. She couldn’t move very well.. if she was being honest, sure, the hammock was comfortable, but she didn’t like the feeling of laying way up there. Besides, this wasn’t optimal if she needed to get up and fight quickly…*

Seaweed- *fell asleep*

Stormbringer: I think so..

Cascade: great. Inferna, we’re ready.

Inferna: alright let’s go.

*the large group began walking towards Sanctuary*

Coelacanth: I don’t think we’ll actually be able to stay in Sanctuary itself.

Mudslide: four big mudwing hybrids, a couple of seawings, a large Nightwing.. yeah, I don’t see how this is working out.

Stormbringer: Blizzard and I can find somewhere near here to stay for the night if we need to.

Cascade: I can as well.

Abyss: we’ll be fine. We’ll find a way to make it work. If some of us have to leave, we can take turns staying in the city.

Seaweed- yeah like a rotation or something

Stardust: I should go follow them then, that way I can tell you when they’re going to be here when you get back. I know where they’re headed right now so I could catch up easily. They’re trying to reach the coast if that’s what you’re wondering. I’ll start in the morning though, it’s pretty late.

Blizzard: … alright. I trust you to catch up. Inferna, by any chance do you have a map?

Inferna: as someone who remembers where to go just by seeing it for the first time, no, I do not have a map of the full continent.

Abyss: hang on I might have something. *he checks his bag he was carrying, he pulls out a map.. but it’s the wrong continent* wait a minute.. Stardust, you need to catch up and give this to Ivy. It’s the map of Pantala.

Bedrock: wait, could we see it first? I want to know what the continent looks like, I’m curious.

*Abyss looks at him and then looks at the rest of the group, looks like Misty is also about to ask the same question*

Abyss: uh.. ok then. Be careful, it’s delicate. *he hands him the map of Pantala. Looks like it was a stolen book from a library. There’s a blood stain on the cover, so that’s worrying* She got that off of a Hivewing expedition leader. I don’t know what a Hivewing is but that’s what she told me. I haven’t had a chance to look it over yet, the ink isn’t waterproof.

Misty: I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Seaweed- interesting...I wonder how strong a hivewing is...well more how tall they are.

*Bedrock opened the map, the first page was a map of Pantala. Something called hives surrounded an area somewhat away from the coast. The poison jungle was labeled as the area above the snarling river in the far North East*

Bedrock: what are hives?

Abyss: it’s their version of cities.

Seaweed- this is so cool! *completely geeking out about the landscapes and the river* (idk how to spell it oof)

Mudslide; what happened to all of the trees?

Stormbringer: Ivy said the hivewings cut down most of the trees during the Tree Wars 50 years ago. She said the the hivewings wanted to unite all three tribes under their queen, but the leafwings didn’t want give up their queen. The silkwings did without much of a fight. The leafwings requested evidence that Clearsight told them this would happen in her book, but the hivewings wouldn’t let them. Negotiations broke down and in the resulting war, the hivewings were victorious leading the remaining leafwings to hide in the poison jungle as Queen Wasp was still trying to hunt them down. She nearly drove the leafwings to extinction, and I suspect that’s her goal.

Coelacanth: and I thought our queens have problems..

Blizzard: anyone will do anything for power.. that’s usually how it works out. We also fight against changes in the balance of power between the kingdoms.

Seaweed- oh...three moons!...I wouldn't have suspected a queen would go to those extremes...

Abyss: It’s possible Queen Wasp sees it as she is defending the Hivewing kingdom, Seaweed. It’s hard to stop since she can control the hivewings with her mind, not just through propaganda.

Blizzard: Ivy told us Wasp is the first queen to be able to do that for any tribe, so something here isn’t right.

Coelacanth: great, she has magic. Wonderful.

Barracuda: if she did, she would just control all of the tribes into submitting to her, no need for bloodshed. She would basically become a second Darkstalker if that was the case. It might be evolutionary, but then it wouldn’t affect the hivewings who are older than her when she became queen.

Seaweed- what if its like something natural...like a kind of creature that helps Queen wasp do it? (big brain moment)

(Yeah sure, you don’t have to use your other OC. You could also use the main characters instead if you want to)

Stardust: before you say anything else, I thought the dragon was a mind reader. I was hoping they weren’t going to notice me, but then my wristcomm went off.

Cascade: … *understanding of Stardust’s desire not to be asked questions, especially about her advanced technology* ok, with your communication link or whatever you call it accidentally activating, I understand. Next time, you know, don’t do that. *points at the hammock*

Stardust: what was I supposed to do?

Cascade: just flip the hammock next time.

Stardust: that would look even more suspicious, one of the dragons was walking towards the hammock when I was escaping.

Cascade: and this doesn’t? We thought you were attacked!

*Stardust looked again at the very damaged hammock*

Stardust: yeah, it wasn’t the best decision now that I think about it.

*Cascade facepalms*

Seaweed- *sighs and shakes their head*

Stardust: hang on, I have a solution. *she looks around to make sure no dragons are watching her. She sees one of the nightwings she saw nearby and waits for them to leave. After they do leave, Stardust grabs the hammock. The vines appear to repair themselves, with only slight discrepancies from the original*

Cascade: every day you seem stranger and stranger.

Stardust: just don’t tell anyone I did this.

Seaweed- ooo cool

Cascade: now that this is fixed, do you want to head back?

Stardust: … *she looked at Cascade, she didn’t look like she had a preference, but for some reason Stardust thought she did*

Cascade: if you’re busy trying to figure out what I want, that doesn’t matter. I’m more than happy to head back with you.

Seaweed- I can come too

Cascade: yeah, if you want.

*Stardust still hasn’t decided*

Seaweed- it's your decision if you want me to come along

Stardust: … I’ll stay.. just as long as I don’t have to talk to anyone.

Cascade: well I might have talk to a friend of mine.

*Stardust instantly vanished*

Cascade: I was joking, come back.

*Stardust reappeared, first her scales were white, then they turned Lime quickly*

Cascade: if someone does ask you a question, you’re going to answer it. If they stop to talk to you, you will talk to them.

Stardust: ok…

Seaweed- yeah...only speak when spoken too.

*you three begin to walk through the village, Stardust still seems very anxious and worried*

Stardust: have you considered she might be asleep?

Cascade: it’s still early in the night. She might still be up.

Seaweed- I would still be awake right now

Cascade: that’s what I’m assuming, though we did wait a few hours since Stardust wasn’t comfortable..

Stardust: I don’t want to be asked a billion questions..

Seaweed- I doubt that you will

Cascade: I’m sure Glory would want to know as much as she can about you anyways.

Stardust: I know. I can only take so many questions.

Seaweed- yeah true

Cascade: just be prepared when you meet her.

Stardust: I’m not prepared at all, I’m scared.

Cascade: don’t be. When are you most calm? Or when are you most comfortable talking to other dragons?

Stardust: when I’m asleep and never *she laughs a little*.

Seaweed- heh

Cascade: well.. just try to be calm.

Stardust: this isn’t exactly helping.

Seaweed- just like take a deep breath

*for the next few days you all stayed at the rainforest village. Stardust spoke only when she had to, and she avoided Queen Glory and Deathbringer at all costs. She helped Cascade on everything she was supposed to do. When it finally came time to leave, she was just starting to get used to the village and feeling more confident talking to other dragons. She had begun to initiate conversations with other dragons now, even if it was only a few times. You, Cascade, and Stardust were now flying back*

Cascade: now it wasn’t that bad, was it?

Stardust: better than I thought it would go. *still nervous*

Seaweed- you feel any better about talking to other dragons?

Stardust: a little…

Cascade: you just need a little time. You’ll get used to being around dragons eventually.

Seaweed- eventually

Stardust: sure I will..

Cascade: come on.

Stardust: ok, maybe.. … what’s the sand kingdom like?

Cascade: what area are you referring to?

Stardust: the only other place on the map you gave me that’s marked. The Scorpion Den. Mirage said he’s from there and I was wondering what the sandwings were like.

Cascade: never go there. It’s dangerous.

Stardust: how so?

Cascade: it’s pretty much a hideout of criminals and gangs. Crime is bad and the number of assassins there is insane. Never go there. Ever.

Seaweed- I think the kingdom of sand is interesting...it's warm which I like.

Cascade: that’s interesting. Most seawings prefer to live by the ocean.

Stardust: I wonder if there are other cities there.

Seaweed- yeah I love the ocean and everything but I prefer warmer areas of water.

Cascade: that makes sense.

Stardust: what about the mudwing kingdom? Do you know anything about them?

Cascade: no, I don’t know too much about them.

Stardust: oh

Seaweed- I know a decent amount but not a lot

Cascade: many dragons have, I’m surprised. She fixed our whole queen situation a long time ago.

Seaweed- yeah I heard of that.. I wish I was there to watch.

Cascade: that was interesting to say the least. It was like a competition instead of what other tribes normally do to see who would be queen.

Seaweed- ooo cool! I like that idea better

Cascade: yeah, less messy anyways. And no death.

Stardust: no death is always a good thing.

Seaweed- yeah!

*you make it to the village just as night fell, dragons were getting ready to sleep or were already asleep, still, Stardust gets nervous, Cascade tries to comfort her but it fails, resulting in you waiting on the floor of the forest until everyone is asleep*

Seaweed- * using a stick to draw in the dirt*

Cascade: what are you drawing?

Seaweed- I'm drawing some fish and some treasure

*the group lifts off into the air. Stardust sticks to the outside of the group, far away enough where she won’t be asked questions with Stormbringer and Blizzard acting as a buffer. The herd of dragons was now making its way through the mountains where you will eventually land in Sanctuary*

*Blizzard looked worried, Stormbringer looked like he was trying to calm her down*

*Stardust is flying alone, unsure of whether or not to try to help Blizzard*

*Inferna, Mudslide, and Bedrock were having a conversation on scavengers, they were mostly discussing ideas on what they would be like if they got to Sanctuary.*

*Abyss, Misty, and Barracuda were talking about war experiences. Abyss didn’t say much except for the fact he met Inferna and Blizzard during the war*

*Coelacanth was watching over both discussions, occasionally giving his opinion, but not really participating in either of them, just listening. He would occasionally scan the ground or the skies around the group incase there were unfriendly dragons, a habit he developed during the war*

seaweed- hm *would listen in to the conversations here and there but she would occasionally let her mind wander.*

Inferna: you think they might be similar to the ones who killed Queen Oasis?

Mudslide; probably. To be completely honest, they probably broke in looking for treasure and killed Queen Oasis because she went after them. Any dragon would of have done the same thing in that case..

seaweed- hmm interesting

Inferna: Abyss has actually seen one before. I’ve seen them at a distance but I prefer to not scare them.

Bedrock: it’s probably for the best, they might attack and hurt us if we get to close.

Inferna: I think it’s because dragons look large and threatening to them.

Mudslide: it makes sense.. so how the heck does a place like Sanctuary work out?

Inferna: who knows.

Seaweed- hm interesting point

Mudslide: Sanctuary sounds like a weird place.

Seaweed- mhm

*Sure enough Ivy and Stardust are outside right when Stormbringer said they would, Stormbringer didn’t even turn around*

Stormbringer: no space?

Stardust: not that much, guess I’m staying out here.

Seaweed- heh

Ivy: I’m staying out here too I guess. Wake us up if there’s space in the cave.

Stormbringer: I will.

Blizzard: you might as well get comfortable I guess.

*Mudslide pulled Inferna back down with her wing and kept her close Inferna was laughing and leaned on her*

Cascade: well, we could all use a little rest.

*Stardust took whatever she was building back inside the cave, she came out a couple seconds later. She laid down on a different but close ledge. Ivy followed her and joined her, though that made Stardust visibly uncomfortable*

*away from everyone else*

Ivy: oh come on I’m not that bad to hang around.

Stardust: *whispering* I’m worried I might hurt you on accident.

Ivy: how would you do that?

*you thought you saw a small thunder bolt jump from Stardust’s back to her tail, but it was mostly hidden by Ivy*

Ivy: I see. Well I don’t think that’s going to be a problem. *she lays down as well, next to Stardust so they could talk*

Seaweed- hm...eh Im going to sleep...I'm tired. *Yawns*

*Cascade looks like she’s ready to fall asleep as well, Mudslide and Inferna looked like they were attempting to sleep again. Blizzard and Stormbringer were still watching the stars*

Cascade; me too.. *she nearly collapses by the cave entrance, Stormbringer and Blizzard ran to help her and carried her over to a grassy area next to Inferna and Mudslide*

Stormbringer: you alright?

Cascade: just a little tired.

Stormbringer: missed sun time?

Cascade: no.. I stayed up most of the night making sure stardust didn’t run away.

Blizzard: you didn’t need to do that.

Cascade: you should have seen her.. the first night we were there *she chuckled but yawned at the same time*

Blizzard: what happened?

Cascade: we woke up to find her clinging to the underside of a bridge, said she was avoiding a dragon.

Blizzard: three moons. *she turned around to look at Stardust*

Cascade: she was fine for the other days though.

Seaweed- yeah...I can say that cascade is not lying

Stormbringer: oh.. that’s our Stardust. *he laughs a little*

Cascade: she mentioned something about her wrist comm going off or something?

Stardust: yeah, something went off, I haven’t checked it yet. I’ll check it in the morning.

Seaweed- sounds like a good idea...

*Ivy looks like she’s waiting for everyone to fall asleep before talking to Stardust. Inferna and Mudslide are the first to fall back asleep. Cascade fell asleep next, a little overtired from her only sleep being from Sun Time*

Blizzard: maybe sometime you want to visit the ice kingdom with me?

Stormbringer: It’s a bit dangerous to bring me there though.

Blizzard: not when you’re with me. I’d protect you.

Stormbringer: still, what about the great ice cliff?

Blizzard: I.. keep forgetting about that.

Stormbringer: we’ll find a way. *he felt bad about not being able to go with her. They both continued staring at the stars.*

Seaweed- *falls asleep*

Ivy: you were talking about Pantala right?

Seaweed- yeah

Ivy: yeah… I miss it a lot. I wonder what’s happening over there.

Seaweed- can you tell me about it?

Ivy: erm.. well.. it’s not important right now. *she seems uncomfortable with sharing it, mostly because she knows how most dragons would react.*

Cascade: yeah.. um.. there’s three tribes over there, that’s the extent of my knowledge though pretty much.

Seaweed- oh ok cool!

Inferna: *waking up* oh hey Cascade. How’d it go?

*Cascade just shook her head*

Inferna: starting with a queen probably wasn’t the best idea then.

Cascade: I know.

Ivy: I told you that this wouldn’t wouldn’t work. The dragon you wanted her to meet is too high profile, she probably got too nervous. [I would too if I’m being honest. I can’t even face my own queen]

Cascade: that’s exactly what happened.

Seaweed- yeah...

Stardust: alright, I’m going to go get some sleep. *she went into the cave*

Ivy: wait, there might not be enough space in there.

Stardust: there will be. *she continues inward, Ivy follows her*

Blizzard: how long before they come back out?

Stormbringer: exactly 48 seconds.

Inferna: that was a guess.

Stormbringer: I wasn’t guessing.

*Mudslide wrapped her wings around Inferna. Looks like she woke up, her eyes were still closed.*

Mudslide: *murmuring* what’s going on?

Inferna: Cascade and Stardust are back. How are you?

Mudslide: a little tired.

Inferna: aw.. I’m sorry for waking you up. *she hugged Mudslide*

Cascade: Stormbringer, did anything else happen while we were gone?

Stormbringer: not much.

Blizzard: we’ve just been staying here.

Seaweed- cool

[I can’t even see the stars from here. Not that it’s a bad thing normally, but I shouldn’t be goofing off like this.]

Stardust looks at Cascade and then Seaweed before looking up at the sky and returning to her thoughts.

[My homeworld is out there somewhere… Sky, Aanvi, and the rest of the crew were searching for four years trying to help me return to my family. Now I’m lost on a planet that’s not technologically advanced and stranded because I do not want to reveal my full capabilities. That would be catastrophic, and Sky doesn’t like it when I use any of them anyway.]

Stardust sighed, unable to get a glimpse of the stars.

[At least this is a step closer than we already were at.]

She heard the nearby door open. The place Cascade was trying to take her to. Her immediate reaction was to camouflage because she couldn’t exactly jump up from the hammock. The alien dragonet was now watching the door as a few dragons stepped out, still talking to each other. Based on her knowledge, two were Nightwings, one was an rainwing. She assumed the rainwing was who Cascade meant by Queen Glory. All she could do was listen and hoped she got a chance to escape.

Stardust didn’t hear too much since she was mostly thinking about not being noticed, but she caught something about a prophecy, and she knew only a few nightwings had that ability. She now knew that she needed to get out of there immediately. She didn’t want to get caught by someone important. Of course, at the worst time, her wristcomm went off. The flashing red light wasn’t enough for them to notice, but the quiet beeping caught the other nightwing’s attention.

[yeah, I think it’s time to get out of here.]

She cut a hole in the hammock small enough for her to fit through as the Nightwing approached. At this point, she’s surprised the other two hadn’t looked over at the other Nightwing yet. She managed to get through without moving anything much and dived towards the forest floor before gliding over top of it. She couldn’t fly at full speed through here unless she wanted everyone and everything to know her position, so that would only be useful if she was being chased. Still camouflaged, she began to fly faster and faster. She flew above the tree line where she could fly fast and get the heck out of there. All it took was one wing beat and she was gone, leaving behind only the tattered hammock where she was supposed to be sleeping.

*you and Cascade woke up to find Stardust is gone*

Seaweed- WHERES STARDUST!?

Cascade: where did she— … she cut through her hammock.

*her hammock had a large gap in it, places where vines should be wrapped together were now apart, something must have happened*

Seaweed- no one wud have taken her...right? we have to tell Queen Glory.

*Cascade gets out of her hammock to check Stardust’s hammock*

Cascade: … looks like it was cut from the inside, which means she cut them herself. Now the question is why? I can’t get Queen Glory involved, she’ll just run.

Seaweed- what if there were other dragons and she got scared and ran away?

Cascade: you might be right. We should probably go search the rest of the rainforest.

*at this point you felt something tap your tail*

Seaweed- huh? *Turns around to look*

*you don’t see anything*

Cascade: hm..? *Surprised, she pulls her tail up, it was curling over the edge a little, you could see a dragonet was hiding under the bridge* What?

*you look under the platform to find Stardust clinging to the underside of it like a scared cat, she was partially camouflaged*

Cascade: Stardust, get up from there!

*Stardust claws her way up over the platform again*

Cascade: you can’t act like that!

Stardust: sorry… just things happened last night, heard someone mention a prophecy and left as soon as I could.

Seaweed- *facepalms*

Ivy looked at Stardust. She had always been an enigma to everyone. Then again, falling from the sky didn’t really help her case, of course she would be nervous around other dragons.

“Something happened, what was it?”

“Three dragons came out of one of the huts. One I assumed was the dragon Cascade talked about since a rainwing stopped us saying the Queen wasn’t talking to any more visitors that night. One of them was talking about a prophecy so I go nervous they could read minds and—“

“So what if they could read minds Stardust?

“I don’t want them to know who I am or to try to get themselves involved with what I’m doing. I was going to say my wrist comm activated as well, I got scared and I ran.”

“It’s perfectly normal to be nervous.. I would have done the same thing. Talking to queens isn’t my specialty,” Ivy said with a chuckle. “Cascade shouldn’t have tried to get you to talk to a queen first. The only reason that would’ve been the case is if you got in trouble.”

“I know.. I just felt bad for running away.”

“It’s ok Stardust, it was a completely normal reaction, I would have expected that to happen. … you want to see why your wrist-whatever-it-was start beeping or whatever?”

Stardust nodded, then hit some buttons on the strange wearable machine. One of those holographic screens or whatever she called them appeared. It looked the camera was on the wing of something.

“No audio.. weird, must have lost it in the transmission.”

“Dragon please?”

“There’s not going to be sound. Not sure why.”

The two of them watched as the view shifted to an over the cockpit view of the craft. Text was flowing down the side of the screen but Ivy couldn’t read it.

“Battle log: 231st day of battle in the void. Drone taken control by Pilot Sky upon exiting the void. New system reported.. casualties: 1 sentinel drone. Combatants: 3 sentinel starfighters, 2 hacked, 1 free. What in the cosmos?”

“I’m not going to understand any of this am I?”

Seaweed- *rolls over in sleep*

The starfighter kept flying. The camera panned to a view of behind the fighter. To other fighters were following it trying to get a good shot on the starfighter they were viewing it from. Evasive maneuvering made it hard to see what was around them but it looked like open ocean for the most part. One of the attacking fighters got shot down, it disintegrated with no wreckage. Then this “friendly” one got hit and the camera went static. Stardust reversed the transmission a little and paused it. There was the unmistakeable edge of the poison jungle far in the distance, What was happening over there?

“You recognize it?”

“Yeah, that’s the poison jungle..“

“I’m hoping the leafwings didn’t see the starfighters.”

“If they did, they might not care. They have other things to worry about. Wait a second, what are those green dots?” They had to have been leafwings. Were they evacuating? Did Wasp find them? “Oh three moons, this is bad.”

“What Ivy?”

“Those look like leafwings leaving the jungle, and there’s only one reason for them to leave going out towards the sea..”

“Two reasons, they might try to catch fish.”

“We don’t do that often. We eat what we can get our claws on in the jungle. I’ll speak with Mirage in the morning. Hopefully they end up here.”

The holo-screen retreated back into the wrist-comm. Ivy began to lean on Stardust. She was nervous about her tribe. Her head was spinning with thoughts of what Wasp could have done. She was lucky Stormbringer and Blizzard fell asleep early or else they would be asking questions too.

“Ivy, we’ll find out what it is eventually. Hopefully it’s nothing bad.”

“That’s not helping Stardust.”

“We can’t change what’s going on over there right now, let’s try to relax and we’ll come up with a plan in the morning.”

Stardust was right, she couldn’t do anything. Especially not in this tired, nervous state and far away from home. She took a deep breath to calm herself before she started hyperventilating. She focused on the smell of the ocean breeze. She sat upright again after calming down.. she’ll have to rest. She could only worry about what was to come.

*Inferna and Mudslide had come back with some mountain lion and goats in the morning before everyone else woke up. They were having a conversation about stories they’ve heard of at the Jade Mountain academy.*

Seaweed- *wakes up* oh hey good morning

Inferna: hello! Brought food. There’s always the ocean if you prefer fish.

Mudslide: yep. I’m pretty sure that’s what Barracuda and Abyss plan to do when they wake up… erm.. Inferna? Is Ivy alright?

Inferna: huh..? *You all look over to the leafwing. She was shaking. Her claws were clenching and unclenching.* Must be another one of those nightmares. *she walks over to her the rest of you follow*

Ivy was running through the jungle trying to get away from the hivewings. Everywhere she turned there was another Hivewing waiting to kill her. She just had to keep running. She saw leafwings up ahead, her tribe would help her fight. She ran towards them only to see them all dead and the forest burning, she turns around to run back but Queen Wasp and her army had surrounded her.

“Nowhere to run coward. You caused this because you didn’t defend your tribe. Now I’ll slaughter you like I slaughtered the rest of this pitiful tribe, worthless hybrid.”

Queen Wasp raised her claw to strike, Ivy could do nothing but cower in fear. She felt a jolt at her side where the claw slashed at her and jumped up, wrist stingers out. She back up and tripped, she held her stinger out to defend herself.. all she heard was the sound of her accelerated heartbeat and blood rushing through her ears. she heard something but it sounded muffled. She was able to hear her breathing again at least, she was hyperventilating again. Then again, a dragon spoke. It was still muffled.

“Ivy, are you ok?!”

Ivy realized she almost attacked her friends, and was leaning on Stardust for support. Her vision was beginning to clear up and she saw Inferna out in front of her, holding her arm up, she must have blocked the stinger. She could make out Seaweed and Mudslide behind Inferna. Her breathing began to slow down.

*As soon as Inferna shook Ivy, she sprang up and nearly hit Inferna with her wrist stinger. Inferna luckily blocked the blow, Ivy had backed into Stardust, waking her up. Ivy was hyperventilating, her eyes were filled with fear.*

Mudslide: Inferna!

Inferna: Woah, Ivy! Chill out!

*Ivy must not have heard, she still had her stinger out in a threatening manner. Stardust couldn’t move to help. Inferna quickly pushed Ivy’s arm up to avoid getting stung*

Inferna: Ivy are you alright?!

Stardust: it’s ok Ivy, calm down.

*Ivy’s breathing began to slow down. She still couldn’t speak, she laid down on Stardust’s side, using it to prop herself up*

Seaweed- Ivy are you ok?

*Stardust held out her paw. Ivy grasped it and began to squeeze it to relieve her stress. Because Ivy was still laying on top of Stardust, Stardust still couldn’t move. Finally her breathing slowed down enough for her to talk*

Ivy: don’t.. scare me.. like that.. *she looked scared, a little angry, and a little relieved that she woke up*

Mudslide: *trying to be as calming as possible* Ivy we didn’t try to, you almost stung Inferna when she shook you awake.

Ivy: I.. did..? *still breathing heavily*

Inferna: it’s ok. We just wanted to know if you were alright.

Ivy: I am.. now.

Stardust: you don’t look ok Ivy..

Ivy: I’m fine..

Stardust: … give her some space. She’ll need a few minutes to recover.

*Her wrist stinger finally retracted, Ivy was holding her chest with one talon. She let go of Stardust’s paw*

*Inferna nodded, all of you backed away, Blizzard and Stormbringer woke. They seem confused on what just happened.*

Seaweed- I hope Ivy is alright

Stormbringer: another nightmare?

Inferna: I think so.. she almost stung me this time.

Mudslide: is that common?

Blizzard: not really, it happens occasionally.. she gets nightmares about what’s happening in Pantala.

*Stardust and Ivy seemed to be talking to each other. Ivy was certainly feeling better now*

Seaweed- huh interesting

*You’re about halfway, there you see Blizzard and Stormbringer have stopped talking, though Blizzard looks worried. Stardust is flying closer to the group. On the other side, Misty and the two seawings were still talking about their war experiences. Mudslide, Bedrock, and Inferna switched to the topic of Pantala and what might be over there.*

Seaweed- hmm *flies a little closer to stardust*

Stardust: *she continues flying her forked tail isn’t disguised as of right now. She looks nervous, but she’s more worried about how many dragons she would run into. Blizzard is worried for another reason* huh..?

Seaweed- how are you doing?

Stardust: could be better. You?

Seaweed- eh I'm ok

*Stardust was still nervous, her scales were beginning to turn green involuntarily. Her scale color changing was now mimicking a rainwing’s completely.*

*Abyss, Barracuda, and Misty were now talking about Darkstalker and catching Barracuda up on events that have happened. The poor dragon didn’t even know about the creation of the Jade Mountain academy*

Seaweed- so...what do you think about pyhria? (No idea if I spelled that right lol)

Stardust; the landscape is nice. I haven’t been to the sand kingdom or ice kingdom yet though. I haven’t seen most of the Skywing territory either, just these flyovers. I think ignoring the wars it’s a great place for dragons. *she chuckles nervously, wondering if that was a good response*

Seaweed- cool I'm glad you like it...*smiles*

Stardust: “take a deep breath,” yeah.. that will work. *Sarcastic tone in a jokingly way, you thought she cracked a smile, she takes the advice anyways*

Cascade: what have we talked about?

Stardust: lose the sarcasm?

Cascade: good, do that now. I don’t want you slipping up in front of Glory.

Stardust: I’ll watch myself. Are all tribes on this planet like this or..

Cascade: if you’re asking if all tribes have a queen, then yes. If you’re talking about the living arrangements or how we do things.. no.

Seaweed- yeah in the rainforest its a lot different than the other tribes.

Stardust: yes and no. But yeah, I should also learn about your cultures too.

Cascade: we’re almost there.

Seaweed- yay

*Stardust wouldn’t take a step closer Cascade was practically dragging her now*

Cascade: come on Stardust.

*for the first time in her life, Stardust felt absolutely terrified.. her scales weren’t turning a bright lime color, mimicking a rainwing’s reaction to being afraid, though she’s used to them turning a different color when she’s afraid. The first dragon she was going to meet not by accident or by weird circumstances is a Queen. Obviously it’s a little nerve wracking for the dragonet*

Stardust: I can’t.. I don’t want to mess it up. First impressions are the most important.

Cascade: you can’t be afraid to talk to a queen Stardust. This is a regular occurrence for some dragons. Complaining doesn’t help..

Stardust: I know.. I’m just not prepared.

Seaweed- no one is prepared for first impressions... just try to be yourself
