Technically Arachne is a person from Greek mythology who was turned into a spider after getting cocky and challenging Athena to a weaving battle. Arachne lost, Athena got petty and tore up Arachne's works depicting the gods more than questionable acts, Arachne tried to take her own life, Athena felt bad, and turned Arachne into a spider lady.
