Well, what I did was find a reference image online, download it, and kinda copy key characteristics. Your first attempt at drawing one I can almost guarantee will suck. But don't give up! I got a drawing I was proud of after a few attempts (Plus a few hours of drawing, endless eraser usage, and a lot of frustration) I'm sure with a bit of practice, you'll have proto drawing drown. Just grab a refrence.

you could look for a template

I suggest analyzing protogen bases so that you understand the general body shaping and features. After that just draw them a bunch, and make sure to use some sort of reference.
