I'm just saying, the way they made the anime storyline go feels weird.

In the manga, they start with his backstory. In the anime, they wait a bit until they use his backstory

Yeah, the manga explains that is why he has stitches whereas the anime just shows his scar/stitches without explanation. A small but also fun detail.
