Twas the night before 9/11, and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse
The hats were hung from the coatracks with care
In hopes that a new day would soon be there
-
The terrorists were nestled, all snug in their beds
While visions of explosions all danced in their heads
The airlines all smiled, the firefighters all riled
For they knew not that tomorrow would be nothing but wild.
-
When at the Twin Towers, there arose such a chatter
People spring to their windows to see what's the matter
Away to the window they fly like a flash,
To see burning towers and people in panic
-
At the Pentagon, "No!" cried Rumsfeld with stress,
"We've lost all the money!" he said to the press,
And at Washington Park, "hee hee!" cried old Michael,
The news of the week, they said to the titles
-
Mohammed sprang to the airport, he gave his team a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle,
But I heard him exclaim, as toward the towers he flew,
"Happy September 11 to all, and out of Boston, they'll say we flew!"
